    • The grooves of a grooved press belt are formed with an improved configuration which reduces groove closure under pressure and which reduces cracking and tearing of the belt. The improved groove configuration consists of a curved bottom (20) and two upwardly diverging side walls (22). In a first embodiment the bottom wall is semi-circular and has a diameter (D) which is equal to about one half of the width (W) of the groove opening. The upwardly diverging side walls (22) preferably include radiused upper edges (24). The side walls (22) preferably have an angle of divergence between about five degrees and about fifteen degrees from a vertical plane. In a second embodiment, the bottom of the groove is substantially flat, and the bottom corners are radiused to provide a smooth transition between the flat bottom and the upwardly diverging side walls.

    • The invention relates to a method of producing a filter bag to be positioned around the filter cassette of a drum filter, and a filter bag produced by this method. According to the method, a filter weave is woven comprising a distance of at least two inseparably interwoven weave layers alternating with at least two weave layers woven separately one on top of another. At least one of the superimposed separate weave layers is an one-layer auxiliary weave (5). Preferably, a plurality of adjacent filter bags is woven, the adjacent filter bags being separated from each other by cutting. The filter bag woven according to the method comprises a two-layer filter weave (4), intended to be arranged against the perforated filtering surface of a filter cassette (7), and a one-layer auxiliary weave (5) for the other surfaces of the filter cassette. The filter bag can be shrunk tightly around the filter cassette (7), since it is made of threads that shrink when exposed to heat.

    • The invention relates to a method for forming a seam in a wire weave, and to a wire weave. According to the method, the seam in a wire weave is made by weaving at least two separate superimposed weaves, i.e. a seam weave (3a) and an auxiliary weave (3b), over a distance at both edges of the wire weave. A folded part (5) is formed in the seam weave (3a), totally lacking threads in the transverse direction of the wire weave. The seam weave (3a) is folded double and fastened by stitches. Both ends of the wire weave further comprise a seam structure made in the above described manner. The seam structure of the invention allows the periphery of a drum filter to be provided with an endless filter wire made of a plurality of separate wire weaves.

    • A press belt in the form of an endless loop includes crosswise and lengthwise reinforcing fibers.
