    • Devices and methods are provided for automating client node access of a wireless network access node. A client node comprises a database containing identification data and access procedure data associated with a plurality of wireless network access nodes and credentials data associated with the client node. The client node receives identification data associated with a wireless network access node. The client node then processes the identification data to locate access procedure data in the database corresponding to the wireless network access node. Once identified, the client node then uses the access procedure data to provide its credential data to the wireless network access node. In response, the wireless network access node processes the credential data for approval, and once it is approved, grants the client node access.

    • A method, system and computer-usable medium are provide for dynamically assigning radio resources (e.g., channels), within a context of a mobile communications network, to heterogeneous nodes such as reconfigurable eNB, Relay Node (RN) and Home eNB (HeNB) and other reconfigurable nodes to improve spectrum utilization. The dynamic assignment of channels for these nodes may be from existing spectrum bands for re-farming, or from secondary spectrum such as TVWS. Both CA and SON procedures can be extended to enable CR and DSA techniques and improve spectrum utilization. These extensions enable dynamic allocation of fixed, non-legacy component carriers to different nodes within an operator's network, opportunistic use of white space within an operators own licensed bands; and, opportunistic allocation of available channels within TV white space (TVWS) or other dynamically available channels (perhaps in coordination with other operators).

    • A mobile tag tracking system for providing mobile security monitoring is provided. The system includes a communications facility; a communications network coupled to the communications facility; and a mobile tag coupled to an item to be monitored. The mobile tag has a processor having a memory and for controlling operation of the mobile tag; a radio communications component coupled to the processor providing at least one of wide area communications over the communications network and local communications access to wireless devices; a power supply coupled to the processor for providing power to the mobile tag; and a location tracking component coupled to the processor for determining the location of the mobile tag and providing a location signal to the processor. Information about the item coupled to the tag is stored in the memory and local communications access is enabled in response to an instruction received at the mobile tag.
