    • An ANSI Type A voltage regulator that eliminates the need for a potential transformer is disclosed. A control unit finds an output voltage by constantly monitoring the input voltage across the utility windings and the stored tap position. The value of the output voltage is further fine tuned by taking into account the effect of the impedance of the voltage regulator itself on the output voltage. The impedance is calculated using the instantaneous current through the regulator, the maximum rated current of the voltage regulator, the instantaneous voltage through the voltage regulator, the instantaneous Power Factor, and the tap position of the voltage regulator.

    • Certain exemplary embodiments comprise a method for transforming a raw set of electrical power generation process data associated with a first physical storage space into a representation of the raw set. The representation of the raw set can be associated with a second physical storage space that is smaller than the first physical storage space. The method can comprise receiving a non-zero user-specified deviation metric relating to the raw set of electrical power generation process data. The method can comprise automatically calculating a deviation measure of at least three data points from the raw set, the at least three data points comprising an opposing pair of end points. The method can comprise automatically comparing the deviation measure to the deviation metric. The method can comprise automatically deleting all data points intermediate to the opposing pair of end points if the deviation measure does not exceed the deviation metric. The method can comprise automatically storing the opposing pair of end points in a compressed set at least partially representative of the raw set. The compressed set can be stored in an Oracle table on a memory device.

    • An electrical utility meter having harmonic data templates advantageously enables a user to determine whether equipment at a particular site is susceptible to electrical damage or interference. According to an exemplary embodiment, the meter generates measured harmonic data for a plurality of phases in the polyphase electrical system. A user may select at least one of a plurality of predetermined templates including one or more harmonic data thresholds. Each of the predetermined templates corresponds to a condition where a specific device is susceptible to electrical damage or interference. An alarm is generated when the measured harmonic data exceeds the one or more harmonic data thresholds included in the at least one selected predetermined template.
