摘要： Personal care compositions comprising a modified soy protein as an active ingredient are described. The modified soy proteins of the instant invention include soy proteins modified by treatment with a reducing agent and subsequently reacted with a carboxylic acid anhydride; soy proteins modified by treatment with a reducing agent, reacted with a carboxylic acid anhydride and subsequently oxidized; soy proteins modified by reaction with a hydroxy alkyl acrylate; soy proteins modified with ionic monomers such as epoxide, acrylate, and chlorohydrin; and soy proteins modified by reaction with an alkyl acrylimidoglycolate. The compositions may be in the form of skin care, skin cleansing, or anti-wrinkle products, shampoos, make-up, conditioners, lotions, aerosols, gels, mousses, dyes, or bleaches.

摘要： The present invention provides a system and method for treating wastewater in which the majority of solids and biological oxygen demand compounds are separated from the wastewater feed using a primary separation process, to produce a solids phase and a water phase. The solids phase is irradiated to reduce the level of pathogens such that it is safe to use as a soil substitute and/or additive so that the solids can thus be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner. In additional embodiments, the solids that have been disinfected by radiation are mixed with a suitable inert filler material to produce a soil substitute, fertilizer, compost, or other soil additive. The liquid phase is treated in a substantially smaller system than would be required for treating the full- strength wastewater that can include a suspended media biological regeneration reactor system. The liquid treatment system can include a high flux adsorbent material treatment system integrated with a low flux adsorbent material biological regeneration reactor.

摘要： A low concentration wastewater treatment system is provided that includes a high flux adsorbent material treatment system integrated with a low flux adsorbent material biological regeneration reactor. The high flux adsorbent material treatment system includes one or more unit operations for mixing low concentration wastewater with adsorbent material that is fresh, recycled, or a combination of both, and for decanting a liquid effluent having a reduced level of contaminants. The adsorbent material with adsorbed contaminants is regenerated in a low flux adsorbent material biological regeneration reactor in which a biological reaction occurs, such as biological oxidation, wherein organic contaminants in the wastewater are metabolized generally into carbon dioxide and water. Excess biomass is removed from the adsorbent material, and the thus- regenerated adsorbent material is recycled to the high flux adsorbent material treatment system.

摘要： The invention relates to substantially dust-free bleach powders that, when mixed with aqueous hydrogen peroxide, yield activated bleach compositions that exhibit improved thixotropy. The bleach powders comprise at least one de-dusting agent and at least one peroxygenated salt. The de-dusting agents, which are preferably present in an amount less than about 10 % by weight of the bleach powder are inert, substantially hydrophilic compounds selected from alkylated esters, cyclic ethers and cyclic esters. The bleach powders also comprise powdered polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in an amount of about 1-5 % by weight of the bleach powder. The bleach powders also comprise an ammonia source, e.g., an ammonium halide, diammonium phosphate, ammonium sulfate and mixtures thereof. Optionally, one or more hair conditioning agents, thickeners and desiccants may be added to the dust-free bleach powder.

The carbon regeneration circuit may include a dedicated regeneration vessel (16), or the regeneration process may proceed within a GAC/water contactor (58) of the process water circuit. A process is described wherein spent GAC from the water treatment system is regenerated within the system with an oxidation process that minimizes damage to the carbon granules.
