The lock has a bolt (11) with magnetic locking pins (14) that project into locking holes (13) arranged in the housing when the magnetic card is not in the lock, preventing the bolt from moving. When the right magnetic card is inserted into the lock, the magnetic locking pins (14) are pushed out of the locking holes (13) by the magnetic force and allow the bolt to be moved. The locking pins (14) lie in supporting recesses (18) of the bolt (11) so as to move transversely to the direction of displacement of the bolt. In order to increase safety against burglary, at least one supplementary locking pin (37) is mounted in the bolt (11). When no magnetic card is in the lock, the supplementary locking pin (37) lies outside of a supplementary locking hole (35) arranged in the housing. When a magnetic card that is not correctly magnetised in the area that corresponds to this supplementary locking pin (37) is inserted into the lock, the supplementary locking pin (37) enters the locking hole (35).
