    • A turbidity sensor (300, 340) includes a sensor body (302), a primary illuminator (306), a scattered light detector (310) and a bubble illuminator (314) . The sensor body (302) is disposed to contact a liquid sample (304). The primary illumination source (306) is disposed to direct illumination into the liquid sample (304). The scattered illumination detector (310) is disposed proximate a portion of the sensor body (302) that is straight in at least one dimension, and the detector (310) is configured to detect illumination from the primary illumination source (306) that is scattered within the liquid sample (302). A bubble illuminator (314) is disposed to direct illumination along the at least one dimension. Scattered light that originates from the bubble illuminator (314) is detected by the scattered light detector (310) and provides an indication of bubbles (312) proximate the scattered light detector (310). Methods of filtering and selectively updating a running average of turbidity readings are also disclosed.
