摘要： A process is disclosed for treating waste gas by means of a dielectrically hindered gas discharge (barrier discharge) which burns across flat electrodes which form a reactor and between which the waste gas to be treated flows in the longitudinal direction. The invention is characterised in that in certain areas of the reactor a higher concentration of components from the waste gas is generated than in the remaining area of the reactor. A device for carrying out the process has at least one pair of mutually opposite flat electrodes (11, 13) which form an intermediate discharge space (70). The electrodes are connected to a voltage source (50), and so an electric field is generated in the discharge space. Moreover, in each pair of electrodes at least one electrode is coated with a dielectric (20) on its side that faces the discharge space. The waste gas to be treated flows through the discharge space. The device is characterised in that means (12) are provided for cooling one or several electrodes.

摘要： The invention provides a device for aftertreatment of waste gas, comprising at least a first reactor chamber through which a gas to be treated can flow lengthwise from an inflow end (61) to an outflow end (62), a first electrode (10, 12), a planar dielectric (20) which screens the first reactor chamber from the first electrode (10, 12) and, near or mounted on the latter (or vice versa), a second electrode (32) situated near the dielectric in the first reactor chamber and designed as an openwork plane structure, this second electrode (32) being connected opposite the first electrode (10, 12). This can be structured so that a plurality of reactor chambers are separated from one another only by dielectrics. Further, the invention provides a process for aftertreating waste gas wherein the gas is subjected to an electric barrier discharge and thus in one and the same reaction chamber passes first through an excitation zone (63) and shortly thereafter through a post-reaction zone (68).

摘要： A process is disclosed for operating an internal combustion engine (3) with less pollutant emissions by subjecting its exhaust gas during its operation to a subsequent electric treatment for converting the pollutants emitted, the emission curve of which is measured. In order to improve a process having the above features in such a way that the desired reduction of pollutant emissions by the internal combustion engine be achieved during its whole operation, while avoiding the need to expand the electric system (5, 61, 62) of the internal combustion engine in a disproportionate and therefore costly manner, the subsequent electric treatment (1) of the exhaust fumes is carried out only during that part of the engine operation during which emission peaks occur.

摘要： A process for treating, in particular cleaning, surfaces, in particular foils and metallic surfaces, is disclosed. Such surfaces are in general covered with a film of oil or grease immediately after they are produced. Grease and oil must however be removed before the surfaces or foils can be further processed, in order to ensure a perfect coating or gluing. In order to achieve this aim in a short time and with low energy consumption, a dielectrically blocked discharge (12, 2, 3, 13a) acts on the surface of the foil web (10), for example. The action of high-energy loaded particles and of photons from the UV spectral domain removes the film of oil or grease in a short time already, so that further processing (coating or gluing) is possible without causing an increased energy consumption nor damaging the surface. Disinfection/sterilisation are also considered as surface cleaning processes.
