摘要： A spectroscopic instrument (1) comprising at least one load bearing anti-vibration foot portion (3) for supporting the instrument on a surface. Each foot portion (3) comprises a load bearing elastomeric portion (5) and an internal stub portion (4) which is provided within the elastomeric portion and which is rigid compared to the elastomeric portion. An internal wall of the elastomeric portion (5) is spaced from an external wall of the stub portion (4) such that the elastomeric portion (5) is moveable relative to the stub portion (4) to absorb vibration. 摘要： A combination DSC testing and Raman spectroscopy system (100) is provided for running investigations on a single sample (5) in the same experiment. A DSC instrument (120) includes a set of optics (150), which allows an associated Raman unit (130) to emit a pulsed laser (132) that intermittently directs a laser signal to the sample (5) and to collect the Raman signal while simultaneously running a DSC experiment on the same sample (5). The DSC has a vessel adapted to contain the sample, a thermal analysis environment is adapted to hold the vessel. An associated temperature control apparatus (160) changes the temperature of the analysis environment between temperature endpoints to observe the sample at various transitions. The Raman spectroscopy unit (130) is configured to generate laser pulses which stimulate emission of Raman spectra to provide further information about the sample without introducing excessive noise in the DSC aspect of the investigation.

摘要： An assembly (100) and a method are provided for inputting a light beam into a light path extending from the confocal scanning head (102) to the microscope (104) of a scanning confocal microscope system to illuminate a selected region of a sample mounted in the microscope. The assembly comprises a light input for receiving a light beam from a light source; beam directing means (8, 12) for controlling the path of the light beam with reference to the shape of the selected region of the sample; and a beam coupler (16) for selective coupling the light beam into the light path from the confocal scanning head (102) to the microscope (104), with the beam direction being controlled by the beam directing means so as to illuminate the selected region. A scanning confocal microscope system including such an assembly is also described, together with a method of calibrating the system. In addition, an optical switch for selectively switching a light beam between two paths is disclosed.
