    • A projection image display device on a large screen of which a bright, uniform image with no after-image is projected includes a spatial light modulation element (1) in which a photoconductive layer (4), a light reflection layer (5) and a light modulation layer (6) are sandwiched between two glass substrates (2, 2') each equipped with a conductive transparent electrode (3, 3'), an image source (8) for displaying an input image to the spatial light modulation element (1), and driving signal generation means (40) for supplying a driving signal in synchronism with a vertical sync signal of the image to the spatial light modulation element (1). At least one of the two conductive transparent electrodes (3, 3') is divided into a plurality of regions, the driving signal generated from the driving signal generation means (40) comprises a plurality of signals having mutually different phases. The signals supplied to adjacent regions of the divided conductive transparent electrode have a phase difference substantially equal to the time which is the quotient of division of a vertical effective scanning time by the number of regions.

    • A radiographic inspection apparatus comprises a radiation generation device and a radiation detection device disposed facing the radiation generation device with an object being inspected therebetween. In the case where the radiation detection device is constituted by a two-dimensional array detector, a light amplifying element is provided on the surface of the array detector facing that surface, on which radiation is incident, to lighten the radiographic inspection apparatus to achieve an increased mobility of the apparatus. Also, two kinds of collimators are provided and switched according to whether alignment work or photographing is performed so as to simplify alignment and reduce exposure during the alignment work. In the case where the radiation detection device is constituted by a unidimensional array detector, the collimators and the detector are constructed to be independently rotatable to achieve simplification of the alignment and reduction in exposure during the alignment work and simultaneously to enable selection of a scanning direction depending upon a type of structure to obtain a high quality transmission image for structures of different dimensions. Further, when the collimators move an irradiation field of radiation in synchronism with scanning of the unidimensional array detector, it is possible to perform irradiation of radiation only for a portion required for photographing and prevent unnecessary irradiation.
