    • In a method for the production of linear block copolymers, which contain at least a sequence A-B-C of a block A of radically polymerizable monomers (a), a block B of monomers (b) and a block C of radically polymerizable monomers (c), the monomers (a), (b) and (c), which are different from each other, are made to react with (1) radical polymerization of monomers (c) with a macro radical initiator (I) of general formula Y-B-X-B-Y, in which X and Y are divisible functional groups upon formation of radicals, whereby X can be separated without fission from Y, under conditions leading to the formation of macro radical initiators (II) which contain the sequence Y-B-C, by selectively separating X and by polymerizing (c), (2) radical polymerization of monomers (a) with the macro radical initiator (II) by separating Y and forming linear block copolymers containing the sequence A-B-C.
