摘要： A, preferably external, storage device (114) is provided with a button (112) or other user input which, when activated causes a launch of an application such as a backup of data from the host device (124) onto the external storage device (114). Preferably, the external storage device (114) includes a hard disk drive (116). Communication with the host device (124) can be made using USB, IEEE 1394, Ethernet, wireless links or other links (126). The external device (114) is configured to allow the host (124) to become aware of a button press, e.g., by a notification or interrupt technique, or by a polling technique.

摘要： A material delivery system (2) is disclosed which is particularly useful for filtered environments, such as clean rooms, minienvironments, or the like. In one embodiment, the material delivery system (2) is disposed below a work area in a clean room-like environment to store parts to be used at the work area. In another embodiment, the material delivery system includes a material delivery elevator (100) for transporting parts to a desired elevational level. In yet another embodiment, the material delivery system includes a cover (50) which is detachably interconnected with a body (10) to define an enclosed material storage area. An assembly (272) is provided to lock the cover (50) down onto the body (10) with a gasket therebetween to appropriately seal this interconnection. This same assembly (272) lifts the cover up and away from the body so as to not damage this gasket. Finally, this same assembly also allows the cover to be rolled off of the body (10) without exposing the gasket to any shear-like forces so as to further reduce the potential for damage to the gasket during removal of the cover (50) from the body (10).

摘要： A data error correction procedure is disclosed for use in a disk drive that includes a magneto-resistive head. The error correction procedure increases the DC bias current applied to the read stripe of the magneto-resistive head. The increased value is predetermined for a disk drive having a particular magneto-resistive head. If conventional error correction procedures are not successful, the increased DC bias current is applied to the read stripe to reduce the bit error rate that has occurred during a read operation conducted by the disk drive.
