    • A cellular access node collects information about at least interference in a plurality of channels in unlicensed spectrum, and uses that collected information to update an allocation of the channels among at least two different access points APs. In one embodiment the information is collected from measurement reports received from each AP which indicates whether the various respective channels are available or reserved. Additional measurement reports may be collected from user equipments operating under the APs. In various embodiments the information can include channel recommendations, estimated capacity for the channels, and/or a traffic model for the channels. With this collected information the cellular access node can balance traffic among the APs by its channel allocation decisions. The non-limiting examples assume a radio environment where a LTE cellular access node operates a primary component carrier in licensed spectrum and the cooperating APs operate secondary component carriers in unlicensed spectrum.

    • The exemplary embodiments of the invention describe apparatus, methods and computer program products that provide a guide and control channel in a WiMAX system to facilitate point-to-multipoint (p-t-m) channel identification, transmission and/or reception. In one non-limiting, exemplary embodiment, a method includes: accessing a p-t-m guide; and transmitting the p-t-m guide using a predetermined IP address on a predetermined channel in a WiMAX system. In another non-limiting, exemplary embodiment, a method includes: receiving a p-t-m guide on a predetermined IP address of a predetermined channel in a WiMAX system; extracting p-t-m session information from the p-t-m guide; selecting a transmission to receive based on the extracted p-t-m session information; and receiving the selected transmission.

    • Sounding Channel Apparatus and Method. According to an example embodiment, a method may include allocating, within a single physical resource unit (PRU), a plurality of channel sounding groups. Wherein each channel sounding group includes a frequency-time domain code division multiplexing (CDM) allocation. The method may also include broadcasting, in a downlink direction to one or more mobile stations in a wireless network, a signal that causes the receiving mobile stations to transmit a channel sounding signal. The method may further include receiving at least one channel sounding signal from at least one of the one or more mobile stations, the channel sounding signal being received in an uplink direction via one or more channel sounding groups. And, the method may include estimating the channel quality, of the channel used by the physical resource unit, based upon the received at least one channel sounding signal.
