    • A method of operating an electronic device includes displaying a search field in a menu screen including a plurality of icons representing respective application programs. Selection of at least one of the plurality of icons is visually indicated responsive to navigation of the menu screen. A search scope is limited to at least one database associated with at least one application program represented by the selected at least one of the plurality of icons. The at least one database is searched using the limited search scope responsive to entry of a search string including one or more alphanumeric characters in the search field. If found in the at least one database, at least one search result including the search string is displayed. Related devices and computer program products are also discussed.

    • The invention relates to an electronic device (10) and a method for handling data communication with such an electronic device. The electronic device combines, on the one hand, a data carrier interface including a slot (13) for receiving a data carrier, and on the other hand a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface including an RF antenna (15) connected to a circuit (16) for acquiring data modulated in an electromagnetic wave. The antenna (15) is positioned adjacent to the data carrier slot (13), such that the NFC interface is operable to acquire data stored on an NFC tag (33, 34) positioned in the slot. A data carrier (30) for use with the electronic device may take the shape and size of a standard carrier usable with the data carrier interfaced, such as a Memory Stick, while in fact lacking a data memory accessible by the data carrier interface. Instead, the NFC interface is configured to acquire data from the much simpler and cheaper NFC tag attached to the data carrier. The acquired data may include a communication address to a remote data memory, which can be accessed transparently as if data was communicated to or from the inserted data carrier.

The system comprising an analyzer (23) that is arranged to analyse the captured part (22a) of the cybercode-like pattern (22) in order to determine which part of the display (12) the camera captured data from, and to send a selection signal (24) to the provider device (10), the selection signal (24) indicating which part of the display (12) the camera captured data from, and the provider device (10) is arranged to then send data (14) originally displayed on that part of the display (12) to the requester device (16).
