    • Disclosed are a method for producing DNA hydrogel fibers and DNA hydrogel fibers produced thereby. The method for producing DNA hydrogel fibers of the present invention includes the steps of: preparing an aqueous DNA spinning solution which contains DNA; and extruding the spinning solution into a coagulation bath containing a coagulation solvent including ionic liquids, coagulating the DNA solution. Since the production method of DNA hydrogel fibers of present invention enables to produce DNA hydrogel fibers without any cross linking process involving a chemical crosslinking agent, it is possible to simplify the process and to prevent adverse side effects occurred by the chemical crosslinking agents. The DNA hydrogel fibers produced by the method according to the present invention have excellent biocompatibility and stability in the body as they have powerful DNase resistance. Such DNA hydrogel fibers may be effectively exploited in a variety of applications such as a drug delivery system, a supporter in tissue engineering, a material for artificial muscle and the like.
