    • This invention consists in a method of repairing a broken wire on a wire cut electric spark machine in which a wire broken on a cutting path during electric spark cutting process is repaired and the repaired wire is returned to the position at which the wire was broken. After connecting (S1) the ends of the broken wire, a discharge state in which electric discharge current is smaller than that at the time of machining the wire is selected (S2, S3) and the wire is returned to the position at which the wire was broken along the cutting path (S4, S5, S6). With the broken wire returned to the initial position in a discharge state that electric discharge current is smaller than that during machining, another process is applied to the distorted work so as to correct distortion and chips can be removed by electric discharge. Thus, the wire is prevented from being broken again and can be quickly returned to the position of the wire breakage.
