摘要： Disclosed herein is a dose counter (118) for counting doses of medicament dispensed by or remaining in a metered-dose inhaler. The dose counter comprises: a rotatably mounted gear wheel (130) having a circular arrangement of ratchet teeth (132); a display coupled to the gear wheel, the display having a visible array of dose counting indicia indexable in response to rotary motion of the gear wheel; and an actuator mechanism having a driver (152) for rotatably driving the gear wheel in response to the dispensation of a medicament dose, the driver being arranged to engage the ratchet teeth of the gear wheel. The actuator mechanism comprises a pivotally mounted lever or linkage having an input portion. The lever or linkage is arranged to amplify a linear stroke at the input portion such that a linear stroke of the driver exceeds the linear input stroke. By amplifying the stroke in this way, the risk of undercounting due to insufficient stroke length may, be reduced.

摘要： Disclosed herein is a dose counter for counting doses of medicament dispensed by or remaining in a metered-dose inhaler. The dose counter comprises a rotatably mounted gear wheel (130) having a circular arrangement of ratchet teeth (132) defining a root circle (134) and a display coupled to the gear wheel, the display having a visible array of dose counting indicia indexable in response to rotary motion of the gear wheel. The dose counter further comprises an actuator mechanism (118) having a driver (124) for rotatably driving the gear wheel in response to the dispensation of a medicament dose, the driver being arranged to engage the ratchet teeth of the gear wheel. The actuator mechanism includes an actuator shaft (120) mounted for linear movement in response to the dispensing of a dose of medicament and an engagement arm (122) pivotally mounted to the actuator shaft and carrying the driver. The actuator shaft and the engagement arm are configured such that, in use of the dose counter for counting a dispensed dose, the travel of the driver along the root circle of the gear wheel exceeds the corresponding linear movement of the actuator shaft.

摘要： An inhaler (10), such as a breath-actuated metered-dose inhaler, for delivering medicament to a patient. The inhaler (10) comprises a housing for holding the medicament and having an air inlet means (12) and a medicament delivery port which together define an air flow path into which the medicament is dispensed. The air inlet means (12) comprises an array of elongate apertures (24) formed in the housing, the long sides of adjacent apertures (24) facing each other. Each aperture (24) is provided with a respective different opening in an outer surface of the housing. The opening of each aperture (24) extends in two different planes such that, if at least a part of the opening is covered in one of the two different planes during inhalation by the patient, a void space is created between the cover and the aperture (24) so as to provide an air flow path through the void space to the at least one aperture (24 ).

摘要： Disclosed herein is a dose counter for counting doses of medicament dispensed by or remaining in a metered-dose inhaler. The dose counter comprises a rotatably mounted first gear wheel having a circular arrangement of ratchet teeth and a display coupled to the first gear wheel, the display having a visible array of dose counting indicia indexable in response to rotary motion of the first gear wheel. The dose counter further comprises an actuator mechanism having a first ratchet drive pawl for engaging the ratchet teeth of the first gear wheel in response to the dispensation of a medicament dose, and a second ratchet drive pawl for engaging the ratchet teeth of a gear wheel coupled to the display. The actuator mechanism is configured such that, in use of the dose counter for counting a dispensed dose, a first ratchet tooth of the first gear wheel is engaged and rotatably driven by the first ratchet drive pawl and then a second ratchet tooth of the gear wheel coupled to the display is engaged and rotatably driven by the second ratchet drive pawl.
