摘要： Apparatus for providing approximately collimated light comprises an extended light source such as one or more strip lights (12) and an open celled honeycomb panel structure (14) arranged adjacent the light source. The honeycomb panel (14) provides a plurality of parallel passages extending through the structure through which light rays approximately parallel with these passages can pass whilst light rays more acutely inlined to these passages are intercepted by the walls of these cells. Thus light from the light source (12) passing through the panel (14) emerges substantially in a beam generally parallel with said passages. The apparatus may also include a lens system (A,B).

There are also disclosed techniques for preventing light transmission through a microlens screen except through the microlenses, the use of microlens screens to improve the performance of solar panels and microlens screens conforming to a part-spherical surface.

The liner may be applied as a spray-on internal coating with the container being sealed by fitting an inner closure before closing outer doors. An emergency flotation system also disclosed for a structure, such as a shipping container, or a vessel or aircraft, and which comprises at least one inflatable bag (12) of a flexible sheet material impervious to gas and water, mounted or adapted to be mounted in or on such structure in a deflated, folded or collapsed condition, the system further comprising inflating means (13) for inflating the or each said bag with a gas, in an emergency situation, so that the structure, with said flotation system, will float in water.
