摘要： We describe flex-tolerant architectures for thin, large-area flex-tolerant electronic document reading devices. In one device a flexible active matrix backplane is coupled to a control circuit board by at least one first flexible PCB, a flexible touch sensing layer is coupled to the control circuit board by at least one second flexible PCB, and the control circuit board is mounted behind the backplane and the touch sensing layer in a housing such that each of the flexible PCBs has at least one U-shaped bend, electrical connections of the flexible PCBs being aligned such that, when flexed, a relative displacement between said control circuit board and a combination of said display screen, active matrix backplane and touch sensing layer in said longitudinal direction is able to be tolerated.

摘要： Drying apparatus such as a hand dryer has a casing (12), a fan (40) located within the casing (12) and capable of creating an airflow, and an inlet (44) arranged in the casing (12) through which air is drawn into the apparatus (10) by the fan (40). At least one outlet opening (60, 62) communicates with the fan (40) and is arranged in the casing (12) so as to direct an airflow towards an object to be dried. The inlet (44) comprises at least one inlet opening (80) and a corresponding shield member (84) which is spaced apart from and overlies the inlet opening (44) such that air drawn into the apparatus (10) by the fan (40) passes through the inlet opening (80) and is then deflected around the shield member (84). This allows air to be drawn freely into the casing (12) whilst preventing objects which might cause damage to a filter (46) or the fan (40) or motor from being inserted into the casing (12) via the inlet (44).

摘要： A thermally insulating jacket such as a sleeping bag is provided with an inner layer (1) and an outer layer (2) to which are attached a plurality of internal walls (3) so as to define a plurality of boxes. The boxes are filled with insulating material such as down or synthetic material. The inner layer is elasticated by, for example, the provision of elasticated thread (7) which causes the inner layer to pull inwards away from the outer layer. This reduces the space between the inner layer and the person or article being covered by the jacket, so as to reduce heat transfer by convection and also increases the thickness of the jacket, thereby improving its thermal insulation. In addition to sleeping bags, the invention can be applied to articles of high insulation clothing and also jackets for insulating hot or cold water tanks.

摘要： A removable rear windscreen (1) for a convertible vehicle (6) consists of a pliable net (2) which has a three-dimensional contoured shape to enable it to fit around the contours of the rear bulkhead of the vehicle, thereby permitting greater front seat travel ' than is possible with a flat panel windscreen. The net (2) is stretched across a frame comprising an upper and lower arm (3, 4) the arms being pivotally connected to one another by an over- centre hinge arrangement (10, 11). This permits folding of the windscreen (1) for storage and has the added advantage of permitting the net tension to hold the arms (3, 4) apart when in the open, deployed position.

The invention is particularly suitable for use in a hand dryer.
