This invention includes an extension mechanism (21) to extend the column and support the column sections (12, 14, 16) during extension, and a locking mechanism to lock each column section to the next when the column reaches its extended position. The column is particularly well suited for use as a crane boom, where individual boom sections are nearly fully extended each from within the other to minimize overlap between adjacent sections and reduce dead weight resulting from such overlap. The locking mechanism comprises a base collar (2a) on one column section which interlocks with a tip collar (51) on the adjacent section. The tip collar has a toothed inner contour (72, 73). The base collar has a rotatable locking ring (45) with a corresponding toothed outer contour.

The apparatus is formed from a carrier adapted for use in an air tube system capable of transporting the carrier from a source to a destination. The carrier includes a substantially cylindrically shaped housing (10) which cooperates with the tube to allow the carrier to be transported. The housing includes an internal cavity (10A), and is coupled to a lid (17) and a base (18) to enclose the cavity. 摘要： The invention enables thin film particles of a controlled shape and size to be generated directly upon release of a thin film coating from a textured Substrate upon which they are grown directly. The substrate comprises an array of discrete, steep sided plateaus of a selected size and shape, from which discrete particles of a corresponding shape and size are releasable usually by means of an intermediate release layer coating on the plateaus. The process is readily scalable for high volume production and permits monomodal or multimodal particle size distributions. 摘要： A double-layer sock includes (10) substantially coextensive, separately knitted inner and outer layers (12, 14) that cooperatively form a fabric receptacle (16) dimensioned to fit over the foot and at least a portion of the leg of the wearer. The separately knitted inner and outer fabric layers are joined by sewn attachment stitches. The attachment stitches include stitching extending completely around the open leg end of the receptacle and tack stitching located within the toe sections of the layers. The layers are each preferably knit in a manner, such as by a circular knitting machine, requiring toe closure seams. The toe closure seams (30, 40) face toward one another in a juxtaposed relationship, such that the rib presented by each seam is overlain and concealed by the opposite fabric layer. The outer layer preferably presents inwardly facing terry loops soas to further minimize bulging created by the closure seams. A form for facilitating fabrication of a double-layer sock is also disclosed.
