    • A method and a cloud management node (100) for managing a data processing task (1:1) requested from a client (102). An amount of energy needed for executing the data processing task is first estimated (1:2) and a time period during which the data processing task should be executed is also determined (1:2). An energy cost during the determined time period is further obtained. The execution of the data processing task is then scheduled (1:3) within the determined time period based on the estimated amount of needed energy and the obtained energy cost. This scheduling may thus be done so that the energy cost will be as low as possible while fulfilling the amount of needed energy and execution within the determined time period. The needed energy is finally acquired from an energy source (108) for use when executing the data processing task.

    • The present invention relates a device (20) for monitoring an optical fibre (21). The device comprises a photo-sensitive device (24) arranged to produce an electric pulse from an optical pulse injected at a first node (23) of the optical fibre, a delay element (26) and a first optical circulator (27) arranged to delay the optical pulse injected at the first node of the optical fibre, wherein the optical pulse is input to a second port of the first optical circulator and output at a third port of the first optical circulator. Further, the device comprises an optical amplifier arrangement (28, 32) arranged to receive the optical pulse at its input and the produced electric pulse as an operating signal, wherein the delay element is arranged to delay the optical pulse such that the delayed optical pulse is synchronized with the produced electric pulse supplied to the optical amplifier arrangement as an operating signal, for producing an amplified optical pulse. Moreover, the device comprises a second optical circulator (29) arranged to receive the amplified optical pulse at a first port and output the amplified optical pulse at a second port connected to a second node (30) of the optical fibre. The second optical circulator is further arranged to receive an optical signal reflected back from the optical fibre at the second port and outputting the reflected optical signal at a third port via a path (31) bypassing the optical amplifier arrangement to a first port of the first optical circulator, wherein the reflected optical signal is output from the second port of the first circulator to the first node of the optical fibre.

    • The invention relates to methods, optical transmitters and a system of optical transmitters for transmitting data over and monitoring a fibre cable. In an aspect of the invention,a method performed by an optical transmitter (201) for transmitting data over and monitoring of a fibre cable (100) with a single optical frequency is provided. The method comprises generating (S101) at least a first optical carrier and a second optical carrier at a same optical frequency, generating (S102) an electromagnetic monitoring signal, modulating (S103) the first optical carrier with the generated electromagnetic monitoring data signal to create an optical monitoring signal, and modulating (S104) the second optical carrier with a generated electromagnetic data signal to create an optical data signal. The method further comprises combining (S105) the optical monitoring signal and the optical data signal in orthogonal polarization modes, transmitting (S106) the combined optical monitoring signal and the optical data signal over the fibre cable (100) to be monitored, and monitoring (S107) the fibre cable (100) by detecting the optical monitoring signal being backscattered from the fibre cable(100).
