    • Circuit for triggering a vehicle passenger safety system with several triggers (ZP1, ZP2, ZP3) by means of which, in the event of a sufficiently serious accident, a current pulse is released which is designed to trigger the protection, with one or more triggering switches (SS in figs. 1 and 2), the switching path of which is non-conductive before the accident and makes the transition to its conductive state in the event of a sufficiently serious accident and thus releases the current pulse via the triggers (ZP1, ZP2, ZP3), with several branches (ZP1/C2, ZP2/C5, ZP3/C9) each containing at least one of the triggers, e.g. a primer capsule (ZP1, ZP2, ZP3) and a capacitor (C2, C5, C9), and with a parallel circuit consisting of the parallel connection of the current branches (ZP1/C2, ZP2/C5, ZP3/C9). During the journey, before the accident, the capacitor (C2, C5, C9) of each of the current paths (ZP1/C2, ZP2/C5, ZP3/C9) is connected to a current source (VCC30, GND in fig. 3) and thus charged to an ignition voltage (about 30V) before the accident. The capacitor (C2, C5, C9) of each of the current paths (ZP1/C2, ZP2/C5, ZP3/C9) has such a high natural capacitance (270 mu F) and such a high ignition voltage (about 30V) before the accident that it (C2, C5, C9) reliably supplies the current pulse in the event of the accident of sufficient energy that, despite any additional energy losses (in D2, D8, D11, Q6, Q9, Q13, Q16, R41, R42, R56), the trigger(s) (ZP1, ZP2, ZP3) of the relevant current branch (ZP1/C2, ZP2/C5, ZP3/C9) is/are operated.

    • A control device for a passenger retaining and/or protective system for vehicles with a sensor which generates an analog output signal corresponding to the acceleration or deceleration acting on its point of installation in the vehicle, an evaluation circuit assessing the sensor output signal and a triggering circuit which triggers the system when the threshold is exceeded. The time cycle of the sensor output signal is subjected to several different evaluations (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) in that said sensor output signal is taken to an evaluation circuit operating in a complex manner or to several such circuits operating differently, which assess the cycle according to differing criteria and thus with several differently defined thresholds. At least one of these evaluation circuits (2) is so constructed and operated that it can differentiate between at least two different kinds of accident (frontal and oblique) with differently defined thresholds depending on the seriousness of the accident. At least one of the evaluation circuits (3, 4) is constructed and operated in such a way that it establishes the seriousness of the type of accident allocated to it from the events and the threshold allocated to it. The outputs of the evaluation circuits are connected to the inputs of an interlink component (23, 24, 234, 1234) which transmits the result to the triggering circuit. The interlink function is selected so that the system is triggered only if the evaluations indicate both a defined type of accident and the exceeding of the threshold(s) specifically allocated to the type of accident concerned.
