    • A disc brake for motor vehicles is described in which the disc is embraced radially from inside by a fist-like housing. The support and guide elements of the brake housing consist of a journal bearing (34) and a movable bearing (7). The journal bearing (34) connects the housing (8) to the holder (6). The housing can be pivoted about the journal bearing. The housing is supported by the movable bearing which consists of a pin (3) which is rigidly linked directly to the wheel suspension (38). The invention enables maximum use to be made of the space available (particularly in the radial direction), as well as permitting the effective radius of the brake to be increased and the thermal load on the brake to be decreased, this being skillfully done by arranging that the movable bearing is mounted directly on the wheel suspension and that the brake lining is mounted tangentially at the inlet.
