    • A method of optimizing the alignment between peaks in an etalon transmission spectrum and a periodic lock frequency grid such as the ITU grid is disclosed. The method comprises determining and implementing a value for the effective etalon thickness (d.cose) which generates suitable periodicity in the etalon transmission spectrum and simultaneously aligns an appropriate etalon transmission peak, with a predetermined fractional interference order c, to a predetermined frequency in the periodic lock frequency grid. Optionally, the method may include adjusting the value of the fractional interference order E in an iterative process. The invention extends to a method of manufacturing a wavelength locker containing an etalon fabricated according to the method.

    • A method of manufacturing a screen used to block the passage of particulate material in a gas flow path is disclosed. A screen substrate, typically comprising a steel mesh, grate or perforated plate, is coated by thermal spraying to apply a coating comprising a relatively soft metallic base material and a hard phase in the base material. Various feedstock materials for the thermal spraying process are disclosed. Preferably, the coating is applied by providing a number of spray heads, each of which is inclined relative to the plane of the screen at an angle between 15 and 45 degrees, so that a greater than 180 degree coating of each portion of the screen is achieved. The resulting screens have application in exhaust systems of fossil fuel fired plants, upstream of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system.

    • A method and system are provided for creating and implementing a media schedule for the placement of media in targets such as publications. The system comprises multiple servers and load balancers which can be accessed remotely by clients via the Internet, for example. The system generates a media schedule template with fields for predetermined categories of data including target identities and, for each target identity, formatting parameters, a base design and a publishing date. The user populates the template and saves the media schedule. A low resolution version of the base design, modified by the respective formatting parameters, is generated for approval. Once the media schedule has been saved in an active state, the system automatically monitors predetermined fields of the schedule to determine when action is required to initiate publication of each item, and, from time to time, automatically initiates the transmission of an instruction to a design engine to create reproduction artwork utilizing the base design and the respective data defining formatting parameters. The reproduction artwork generated in this way is transmitted directly to the publication or other target in question without intervention by the user.
