The blister pack (10) includes a substantially tear-resistant housing (12) that encloses one or more blisters (16) contained on a blister sheet (14) and surrounded by criss-cross grain material to provide cut or tear resistance in multiple directions. In one embodiment, the cavities (38) of the blisters (16) are positioned such that the pills (34) are aligned at an angle with respect to the corresponding dispensing slots (27) on the housing (12) in their normal position. The blisters (16) are kiss-cut, perforation cut or score cut detachably attached to a zipper strip (17) on the blister sheet (14) to prevent undesired rotation of the blisters (16). Upon removal of the zipper strip (17), the blisters (16) may be twisted until their pills (34) are substantially aligned with their respective dispensing slot (27). The blisters (16) may then be depressed to remove the pills (34) from the cavities (38) of the blisters (16) by pushing the pills (34) through the foil sheet (18) that covers the slots (27).

The packaging container may include a substantially tear-resistant housing that encloses a tray that is preferably made from a paper material. The tray is substantially opaque to display graphics and/or to prevent viewing of the contents. The tray is preferably seamless such that it may not be opened without scissors, a knife or the like and, when opened, such opening is readily apparent. A second tray may also be used to create a dual-sided tray for housing the products, wherein the second tray may be substantially opaque or substantially transparent. An insert card may be used within the housing to reinforce the container and may be contained by fold-over edges of the housing. In an alternate embodiment, the packaging container may have a first housing member that includes walls that fit within an area defined by the walls of a second housing member, and a chamber cover that includes an area for housing or displaying goods.
