摘要： The invention provides a method for managing connections in a plug and play fashion between computing machines in a computer architecture such as a virtual data center. The method comprises: - previously providing at least one connection management structure, said connection management structure including connection entries defining a role based connection between two computing machines, each connection entry defining a socket role assigned to one of said two computing machines, said socket role being associated with socket attributes representing the information that needs to be provided by the computing machine having the socket role to establish connection with the other computing machine, and a plug role assigned to the other computing machine, said plug role being associated with plug attributes representing the configuration actions that need to be executed by said other computing machine to establish connection with the computing machine having the socket role, and - managing the connections among said computing machines in the computer architecture using said at least one connection management structure.

摘要： A method, computer program and system for managing pre-requisite software/packages of a software product distributed as a virtual appliance in a compliant way at activation time of the virtual machine. A method is provided to prepare the virtual appliance distribution package in which the pre-requisite software have been removed from the virtual image. A further method is provided to deploy the virtual appliance as a virtual machine at the customer site, the method re-installs each software product pre-requisite software/package in the virtual machine only if the license has been approved by a user. The virtual appliance distribution package comprises the at least one virtual disk with software package, and the activation program as a boot program and some additional information such as the list (ECP) of pre-requisite software for the software product and a repository containing the software product pre-requisite software/packages location where the pre-requisite software/packages can be retrieved. The activation program also maintains a list (LSER) of all the pre-requisite software/packages already installed in the user environment before and during the activation phase.

摘要： A method, computer program and system to automatically install, update and remove a software application distributed as a virtual appliance, in a virtual machine system running on top of a virtual machine monitor in a computer. The software application virtual appliance comprises one virtual disk which is automatically detected and installed or removed at the customer by the Virtual Disk Activation Manager (VDAM) program which executes scripts including commands through the API to the virtual machine monitor. The virtual appliance virtual disk is also created automatically by the software manufacturing using VDAM program. The virtual appliance virtual disk stores the binaries of the software application, a software package created by the software manufacturer using a software package tool, an installer to execute the software package, installation and desinsatallation scripts and a unique identifier which is a signature for the virtual machine virtual disk.
