    • A value document authentication apparatus and system that includes value document substrates having a uniform distribution of one or more phosphors that emit infrared radiation in one or more wavelengths, which can be measured at the same location on the value document that is illuminated by a phosphor exciting light source when the document passes the light source with a uniform velocity. The illumination and measurement locations on the value document can be offset. The measured infrared radiation as a series of overlapped measurements along a pre-selected track in the value document represents an intensity profile, which can be normalized after removing high variations. The normalized intensity profile of a test value document can be compared with normalized intensity profile from valid reference documents to authenticate the test value document.

    • A method, system and program product for the detection of removed objects in video images is disclosed. An object (or objects) is within a fixed camera's FOV (Field of View), is designated to be monitored. If an object is not designated, an algorithm can be used to segment and identify all the objects in the image that is acquired by a fixed camera. In such case, all these objects can be monitored. A reference frame around the monitored object that also includes the surrounding background can be determined. The object can be extracted out of the reference frame, thereby creating a "reference with hole" image and an object reference image. The hole in the "reference with hole" image can be filled by either an in-painting algorithm or a texture synthesis algorithm depending on the complexity of the surrounding background.

    • Methods and systems for packaging video sequences based on user-specified events are described herein. An illustrative method of event-packaging a video sequence may include the steps of acquiring a video stream containing an event of interest, extracting various event information from the video stream and storing one or more event parameters within an event database, extracting a video clip from the video stream containing the event of interest, associating metadata representing the event parameters to the video clip, and . exporting the video clip containing the event of interest and associated metadata to an external agent. In certain embodiments, a video image- processing appliance manager and/or one or more appliance modules can be provided to automatically extract event information from the acquired video stream, and to manage the indexing and storage of event parameters within the event database. A graphical user interface may also be provided to permit the event information extracted from the video stream to be compared against a set of user-specified event parameters.
