    • A home relationship is established between a device and a network by storing an ownership record in the device that identifies the network, and storing in the network a device identifier that identifies the device. Thereafter, communication is established between the device and the network. The ownership record is then transmitted from the network to the device, and automatic access to the device is granted to the network once the device verifies the transmitted ownership record against the ownership record stored in the device. In addition, the device identifier is transmitted from the device to the network, and automatic access to the network is granted to the device once the network verifies the transmitted device identifier against the device identifier stored in the network.

    • In a first aspect, the present invention is a method that includes establishing a relationship between a mobile device and a service, utilizing the service to authorize a guest relationship between the mobile device and a wireless network with which the mobile device has no preexisting relationship, and in response to receiving authorization from the service, utilizing the services provided by the wireless network. Through aspects of the present invention, the mobile device is permitted to access the wireless network as a guest without requiring additional manual intervention from a user of the mobile device. In a second aspect, the present invention is a system that includes a wireless network, a device enabled to engage in wireless communications, and a service coupled to the network via a public network. According to the second aspect, a relationship between the service and the device is estate fished so that the service can be utilized by the device to authorize a guest relationship between the device and the wireless network, thereby allowing the device to access the wireless network as a guest without requiring additional manual intervention from a user of the mobile device.

    • A method and system establish special relationships between mobile devices. The method and system configures a plurality of contact classes (102, 103) for a mobile device (101), where each contact class (102, 103) comprises associated properties, and assigns at least one contact (105, 106, 107, 108) to one of the contact classes (102, 103). The communication between the mobile device (101) and the contact (105, 106, 107, 108) is based on the associated properties for the assigned contact class (102, 103). The associated properties can include messaging type, parameters for data access, parameters for access to sensitive information, and image access by quality level. Contact and access control information can then be directly exchanged between the mobile device (101) and the contact (105, 106, 107, 108). The contact (105, 106, 107, 108) can obtain an account with the mobile and its associated devices without needing to visit each associated device. The contact and access control information thus only needs to be entered once for each user.
