摘要： A set of golf club wedges each having a club face (10) is disclosed wherein the lofts of the individual clubs progressively increases. The hitting surface of each club head may take the form of an insert (12) that includes a series of grooves, the design of which is varied from club to club to provide increasing friction with loft. As a result, a golfer can impart the same amount of spin to a golf ball with each of the wedges despite a substantial difference in loft and club head swing speed between the respective clubs. In addition, the surface roughness of the hitting surface may also be increased as loft increases to further control the spin imparted to the ball.

摘要： A water jet microkeratome (14) for use in cutting a lenticular flap in a cornea (12), comprises a scleral chuck (10) for holding the eye as the flap is being cut, a water jet nozzle, and a temperature (16) for applanating the cornea. A channel (19) corresponding to a peripheral edge region of the flap is formed between the template (16) and a cylinder (17) which acts as a vacuum guard, and a vacuum is applied to the channel to pull the corneal tissue in the peripheral edge region into the channel (19). This reduces the compression in the corneal tissue at the edge of the flap to be cut. The water jet is scanned at high speed a predetermined distance beneath the template to cut the flap with negligable erosion at the edge or boundary of the flap.

摘要： A surgical irrigation system comprises a reusable console and a disposable pump unit. The disposable pump unit includes a pump/motor module which includes a pump and a motor for driving the pump. The module is adapted to be mechanically supported within a seat in the console. The console produces a direct voltage at a pair of terminals within the seat. When the pump/motor is placed within the seat, the console terminals are connected to contacts on the module to provide a source of direct voltage for the pump motor. In the preferred embodiment, the disposable unit includes a handpiece and an irrigation valve. A flow sensing device within the outlet tube if the pump/motor module is actuated when the valve is open to turn the motor on and drive the pump. When the valve is closed, the flow sensing device turns the motor off.

摘要： In accordance with the invention, a golf ball is marked with two equatorial o-rings adjacent an equator of the ball and equally spaced therefrom, which are in a golfer's full view of the top side of the ball when the ball is accurately aligned to its desired initial starting line and a golfer is properly positioned to putt. The polar regions of the ball are also imprinted with a pattern which is essentially invisible to the golfer when properly positioned to putt. When the ball is aligned to a particular starting direction, and properly struck precisely and squarely and rolls purely in that starting direction, the equatorial o-rings will roll without wobble, and the polar o-rings will remain essentially invisible to the golfer. But when side spin is imparted to the ball at impact, the equatorial o-rings (circumferential lines) will appear to wobble as the ball rolls, and the polar o-rings will become periodically visible and emphasize the appearance of wobble. The quantity of the polar region imprints which become visible and obvious, and which enhance the appearance of wobble as the ball is rolling, provides an indication of the extent to which side spin has been imparted to the ball by the putting stroke. This feedback to the golfer after every putt, as to the magnitude of the apparent wobble (i.e. amount of side spin) his or her stroke imparted at impact, allows the golfer to differentiate between good and poor putting strokes. Such learning will inevitably help the golfer improve his or her putting. A putter for use with the ball marked as described above includes a central region which simulates the appearance of a golf ball cover. Two lines are printed on this central region converging from the back of the putter toward the front surface with the lines adapted to be aligned with the equatorial o-rings on the ball. The regions of the upper surface of the putter contiguous to the central region may be printed or painted with a coating that simulates grass.

摘要： A single camera (10) includes two main components, a large lens assembly (12), and a rear film cassette cartridge (14). The lens assembly essentially includes all of the components of the camera, except for the film, and the battery, and may be easily snapped onto a film cassette cartridge. Upon forced removal, the lens assembly is designed to survive, while the film cassette cartridge is destroyed, preventing the user from reloading the film. The lens assemblies may include any of a variety of features and effects, including drop-down filters and modifiers, flashes, sound effects, and selectively distorting lenses. Pre-loaded film backs may be supplied to retail stores and film-processing centers allowing returned cameras to be refurbished at the local-retail level, instead of collecting and shipping spend units back to the factory to be overhauled, repackaged, and re-distributed. According to another embodiment, the camera includes a pneumatic shutter release and a dark-slide panel that ensures a light-tight installation of the film cassette.

The system does not know whether the actual fault is on the link or the node connected to the link. The system needs only to perceive the actual fault. Upon fault detection, the system reroutes communications affected by the fault onto predefined restoration paths using a set of switches called cross-connects. 摘要： A sanitizing apparatus having an enclosure, and inlet connector and an exhaust-outlet is provided. The enclosure of the apparatus is substantially impermeable to ozone and has an inner volume and a sealable opening. Inanimate items or user's bodily extremities can be inserted into the opening which can be sealed to form an airtight barrier around or with the inserted item. Ozone can be introduced to the inner volume through the inlet- connector. Pathogens on the surface of the item are deactivated through the exposure to ozone. Clumped pathogens can be broken down using vibrational energy or rubbing. Once sanitized, the oxygen-based gas mixture contained in the enclosure can be released through the exhaust-outlet. Catalysts, such as carbon filters and heat, can be used to ensure that all ozone has been decomposed into oxygen. The sanitizing apparatus is safe, rapid, and effective.
