    • A package for storing or preparing food or other products includes a flexible pouch within which the product can be sealed, and a box' or other container sized to hold the pouch. To seal the product in the pouch, the pouch includes a peelable seal that seals a portion of a first thermoplastic film to a portion of a second thermoplastic film, such films optionally forming walls of the pouch. The package, including the container and the pouch, is configured for beating the sealed product m " a microwave oven, in a heated state, pressure inside the pouch increases to expand the pouch, and the container constrains or limits expansion of the pouch in some places but not at an expansion region of the container. A portion of the peelable seal is proximate such region, producing a separation in such peelable sea! portion such that the pouch self- vents through the separation.

The first panel of the package comprises a multilayer film with an exterior layer having a nonlinear first score Sine and an interior layer having a linear second score line. The first score line and the second score fine are positioned non-parallel in a plane of the package such that the first score line intersects the second score line to form an opening in the package at the second score line when the exterior layer and the interior layer are separated. Separation of the exterior layer and the interior layer also forms an adhesive-free pour spout in the separated exterior layer. Various embodiments of various package configurations, score line configurations, multilayer film structures and methods of manufacturing are also described.

    • A package film is described. The package film comprises a first foil layer having a thickness of 0.5 mil or less but greater than 0 mil and a second foil layer having a thickness of 0.5 mil or less but greater than 0 mil. The package film also comprises a multilayer structure positioned between the first foil layer and the second foil layer. The multilayer structure has a thickness of from 0.75 mil to 2 mil and comprises (a) a high modulus layer having a secant modulus in each of the machine direction and the transverse direction of greater than 120,000 psi or having an elongation at break in each of the machine direction arid the transverse direction of less than 150 % and (b) a bulk layer comprising polyethylene, polypropylene, ionomer, or blends thereof.     • An anti-glare, texture coating is described. The coating comprises an emulsion comprising (a) water, (b) a first particle comprising particles having an average particle size of greater than 0 but less than 10 microns and comprising acrylic beads, (c) an acrylic-based carrier and (d) a second particle comprising particles having an average particle size of from about 10 microns to about 125 microns and comprising polyamide, polyethylene, polypropylene, polytetrafluoroethylene or combinations or combinations of such. The combination of the water, the first particle and the acrylic-based carrier comprises from about 75 % to about 95 % by weight of the coating, and the second particle comprises from about 5 % to about 25 % by weight of the coating. Also described is a packaging material comprising (a) the coating and (b) a substrate comprising metal, glass, paper, plastic or thermoplastic. Further described is a method of rotogravure printing the coating to the substrate.

    • The present disclosure is concerned with flexible reclosable containers which have a one way valve system which provides a means to vent fluids, from the interior of container when the repeatedly reclosable closure member, is in a closed state. It is also concerned with a process for creating such a valve system using a seal bar with voids to create a channel which passes behind the closure member. The valve system which is disclosed comprises a central passageway which connects port which communicates with the environment to a port which communicates with the interior of the package. Also disclosed is the concept of using this valve system with a readily removable hermetic seal such that the port intended to communicate the environment initially communicates with the headspace between the reclosable closure member and the hermetic seal but subsequently does communicate with the environment when the hermetic seal is removed.
