    • A microwavable food and package apparatus includes an outer container having an upper panel providing an upper surface, a lower panel providing a lower surface, a plurality of side walls that each extend from the upper panel to the lower panel, and an interior. One of the side walls having a removable portion that enables access to said interior such as when removing the contents/bowl. An inner container of bowl provides a cavity that holds a food item. The outer container lower panel has a having a removable section that can be removed to provide an opening in the upper panel. An annular wall on the inner container is sized and shaped to fit the opening. The outer container or box thus functions as a trivet, wherein a portion of the outer container extends away from the inner container after the inner and outer containers have been subjected to microwave cooking so that said portion of said outer container (e.g. corner) provides a cooler surface that can be gripped by a user without fear of burns.

    • A method is provided to present a cost- and environmentally-efficient method of pasteurizing and vacuum packing food, comprising the steps of providing a tray (1) with a first separating barrier (11) which divides the tray (1) into a first compartment (4) and a second compartment (5). Both the first compartment (4) and the second compartment (5) each have a flexible bottom, e.g. a first flexible bottom (6) and a second flexible bottom (7). The barrier (11) is formed such that it has a first channel (12) which connects the first compartment (4), which has a valve (16), with the second compartment (5). The contents inside each compartment is pasteurized and cooled, whereby a vacuum is created in the package (15) in such a manner that the flexible bottoms (6, 7) are caused to be concave relative the first compartment (4) and the second compartment (5) respectively. The result is a more hygienic and easier to prepare ready-to-eat meal with several compartments for different servings, having only one valve. Moreover, a package (15) is provided to be used in the implementation of said method.

    • The invention relates to a system and package for food products which comprises a tray and a cover film which comprises an opening for venting of gas at overpressure that arises when cooking a food product contained in the package during supply of microwaves at a power P, wherein the opening has an opening area A adapted such that the ratio between the opening area and the supplied effect is in the range of 0,005 and 0,06mm 2 /W, preferably between 0,01 and 0,03 mm 2 /W, more preferably between 0,015 and 0,025 mm 2 /W, so that the opening has a sufficiently large opening area A that it allows a sufficient flow of gas during cooking to avoid that the package breaks due to overpressure, and so that the opening area A is sufficiently small to maintain an overpressure in the package during a time period after the supply of microwave power has ceased, which time period allows the package to be sealed in a subsequent processing step. Further there is described a method for packaging of food products.

    • A process for making a container (11) which is suitable for containing food in which a tray (13) for containing ovenable food is provided with a printable cover. The container is made by removeably bonding a lid (23) to the tray in order to seal in the content of the tray; removeably bonding a printable cover (15) to the lid and printing upon the printable cover (15) such that a first set of print is viewable at an outer surface of the printable cover (15) and a second set of print is viewable at an inner surface of the printable cover (15). The process is designed to ensure that the container (11) can withstand the heat required to heat the food in the packaging container and that fewer materials are used in the creation of a packaging container than would otherwise be required.
