    • An ultrafiltration device is designed to be used for ambulatory SCUF or other types of continuous or intermittent ultrafiltration, typically while being worn or otherwise carried by the subject (S) that is being treated. The ambulatory ultrafiltration device comprises a blood filter (4) that has a blood side (6) for fluid communication with the vascular system of the subject (S), an ultrafiltrate side (7), and a semipermeable membrane (8) disposed between the blood side (6) and the ultrafiltrate side (7). The ambulatory ultrafiltration also comprises a buffer vessel (3) in fluid communication with the blood side (6) of the blood filter (4), and a blood pump (9). The blood pump (9) is controlled to alternate between a withdrawal phase and a return phase. In the withdrawal phase, blood is withdrawn on a blood path from the subject (S) via the blood filter (4) to the buffer vessel (3). In the return phase, blood is returned from the buffer vessel (3) to the subject (S) on the blood path. The blood filter (4) is arranged to remove ultrafiltrate from the blood during at least one of the withdrawal and return phases. The use of a single blood path for withdrawal of blood and return of treated blood makes the device suitable for ambulatory ultrafiltration.

    • A device is provided for monitoring the integrity of a flow circuit in fluid communication with a receptacle. The flow circuit comprises a pumping device for transferring fluid through the flow circuit. The device operates according to a monitoring method in which a pressure signal is received (401) from a pressure sensor, the pressure signal being indicative of fluid pressure in the receptacle or the flow circuit. The pressure signal is then processed (406-407) for detection of a beating signal. The beating signal manifests itself as an amplitude modulation of the pressure signal and is formed by interference between pressure waves generated by a pulse generator associated with the receptacle and pressure waves generated by the pumping device. The integrity of the flow circuit is determined (408-409) based at least partly on the presence or absence of the beating signal. The device and the flow circuit may be part of an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment, and the method may be implemented as a computer program product.

    • A filtering device receives a pressure signal (P) from a pressure sensor in a fluid containing system, the pressure signal (P) comprising first pulses originating from a first periodic pulse generator and second pulses. The device acquires a reference signal which is indicative of a current operating frequency of the first periodic pulse generator. The device identifies, based on the reference signal, a plurality of harmonics ( v̅ 1 − v̅ 8 ) associated with the current operating frequency, computes correlation values (λ̂ 1 − λ̂ 8 ) between the harmonics and the pressure signal (P) within a time window in the pressure signal (P), and generates a filtered signal by subtracting, as a function of the correlation values (λ̂ 1 − λ̂ 8 ), the harmonics from the pressure signal (P). The use of correlation values is a direct, fast, robust and computation-efficient approach for estimating the signal contribution (d̂) from first pulses in the pressure signal (P).
