摘要： A flexible connector for securing an ablation probe in a looped configuration around the pulmonary veins of a heart includes a flexible base member having first and second apertures dimensioned to receive the ablation probe and wherein the flexible base member is slidable along a length of the ablation probe when the ablation probe is positioned within the first and second apertures. The flexible base member further includes a third aperture dimensioned to receive a looped portion of the ablation probe. The flexible connector is advanced along the length of the ablation probe to form a crossover point with the returning portion of the ablation probe. A tether is secured to the flexible base member and is used to withdraw or remove the flexible connector.

The catheter includes a flexible catheter shaft having a wall, a filling channel is integrated into the wall, and a thin foil balloon element having a film-like structure. The seal is greater than seals of equivalent balloon structures.

摘要： A catheter assembly (11) and method for internally anchoring a catheter (13) in a patient. According to one embodiment, the catheter assembly includes a catheter, a tubular fitting (15) coupled to one end of the catheter, and an internal bolster (17) coaxially mounted around the tubular fitting. The tubular fitting has a waist portion (29) , and the internal bolster is secured thereto by a snap-fit. To internally anchor the catheter in a patient, one inserts the end of the catheter to which the fitting is coupled into the patient and then, while the fitting and its coupled end of the catheter are within the patient, inserts the internal bolster over the fitting until it snap-fits into place over the waist portion, thereby internally anchoring the catheter within the patient .

摘要： A guiding catheter includes an elongate shaft with a central lumen and a mechanically expandable sealing membrane mounted about the distal end of the shaft. An expansion wire is slidably disposed in a dedicated lumen within the catheter, the expansion wire having an expandable distal portion with a pre-formed expanded shape capable of expanding the sealing membrane into sealing engagement with the wall of an artery to provide occlusion of blood flowing through the artery. In one embodiment, a steering wire is slidably disposed in a dedicated lumen within the catheter and is fixed adjacent the shaft distal end. Pushing or pulling the steering wire deflects the distal end of the catheter. In another embodiment, the guiding catheter has a pre-formed curve adjacent the distal end of the shaft.

摘要： The catheter includes an outer tube with an inlet end portion and a stop formed on the inlet end portion. The stop, which normally assumes a collapsed orientation, is moveable between a collapsed orientation and a deployed orientation. The catheter may include at least one of a diagnostic port disposed on the outer tube proximate the bottom of the stop, a locking device proximate the bottom of the catheter for securing the stop in the deployed orientation, and an actuator for operatively moving the stop between collapsed and deployed orientations. Applying force to the actuator moves the stop from the collapsed orientation to the deployed orientation. The actuator may also include a fail-safe mechanism designed to fail when a predetermined amount of force is applied to the actuator.
