摘要： Composite compositions containing, as the major components, fine hydratable microfibril fibers obtained from cellulose or derivatives thereof and a solid capable of swelling with water, wherein at least part of the surface of the solid is coated with the fine microfibril fibers, and a process for producing the same. The solid capable of swelling with water is exemplified by particulate polymer absorbents to which short fibers have been added as the third component. These composite absorbents may be located on supporting sheets made of, for example, a nonwoven fabric to give composite absorbent sheets applicable to various absorbent products including diapers for infants and adults.

In one aspect of the invention, a carpet is provided having a selected dimensional stability in which there is (i)a first carpet part having a primary layer with pile substantially covering a first side of the layer, the pile tufted through theprimary layer to leave tuft bundles on a second side of the primary layer and a binder encapsulating the tuft bundles, the first part having a predetermined force of expansion and contraction under cycling conditions of temperature and moisture; (ii) a second part in layered relationship to the first carpet part, the secondcarpet part constructed from one or more layers to have a predetermined resistance to expansion and contraction at least equal to or greater than the force of expansion and contraction of the first carpet part under cycling conditions of temperature and moisture and traffic loads on the carpet pile.

摘要： An improved cushioned carpet fabric is provided. The cushioned carpet comprises a primary carpet (112) having a plurality of pile-forming yarns (120, 134) projecting outwardly from one side. A layer of reinforcement material (158) is bonded to the side opposite the pile-forming yarns. The reinforcement layer (158) is adjacent to, and embedded in, a cushion layer (178) of a polymer such as a polyurethane. There is preferably no additional adhesive between the cushion layer (178) and the layer of reinforcement material (158) since the primary carpet fabric is mated in-situ to the polyurethane-forming composition without preheating the polyurethane-forming composition. An apparatus and process for forming the cushioned carpet fabric of the present invention are also provided.

摘要： A hook or loop component of a hook and loop fastener having a textile ground sheet (16) and filamentary pile, the ground sheet (16) penetrated by a resinous binder of improved properties. Hydrolytically stable cross-linked bonds are formed in a binder under ambient or laundering conditions. Bonds of urea-, ureido-, or urethane-type result from curing of the hook or loop ground sheet (16) by exposure to water molecules, polyfunctional amines, or polyfunctional alcohols. The resin is applied as a hot-melt, as a neat liquid, or as a solute in a solvent. In a method for applying the resin as a hot-melt, a continuous strip of hook or loop elements is heated to approximately the same temperature as the melted resin and the melted resin is applied, using a coating head and coating knife, to a section of tape suspended between two support points. Other cross-link systems and thermoplastic systems are disclosed.
