摘要： An aqueous, non-crystalline minoxidil composition for topical use. The composition contains minoxidil complexed with an amphipathic compound having a pK less than about 5 and containing a single lipophilic chain moiety and a sulfate, sulfonate, phosphate and phosphonate polar moiety. The composition may be formulated in ointment form, in an aqueous vehicle, or dispersed in a fluorochlorocarbon solvent, for spray delivery from a self-propelled spray device. The minoxidil in the composition remains in non-crystalline form for a period of at least several hours after application to the skin, thus overcoming the prior art problem of the minoxidil tending to revert to an insoluble crystalline form when prior art compositions are applied to the skin.

摘要： A composition for topical application to a part of the body comprises a vasodilator, for example glyceryl trinitrate, as active ingredient dissolved in a blend of volatile and non-volatile solvents of different solvating capacities for the vasodilator. The vasoldator is present in the composition at a concentration at or slightly below saturation, whereby evaporation of the volatile solvent in use will maintain the vasodilator at saturated or super-saturated concentrations in the residue, whereby the vasodilator will become saturated or supersaturated in the solvent remaining and, as the active ingredient passes through the skin and is absorbed in the bloodstream, and thus becomes depleted in the residual composition, continuing evaporation of volatile solvent will maintain the active ingredient substantially at saturation or supersaturation level in the residual composition throughout the major part of the absorption phase, thereby maximising absorption levels but at a moderate dosage level.

摘要： A method of making a composition having the property of being able to store chlorine dioxide includes mixing an aqueous chlorine dioxide solution with a superabsorbent, water-soluble polymer that is substantially unreactive with chlorine dioxide and permitting a mixture formed thereby to form one of a gel and a solid composition. A method of delivering chlorine dioxide includes providing a gel or solid composition as described and degelling the gel or dissolving the solid composition to dispense the chlorine dioxide therefrom. A method of disinfecting a target such as water, wastewater, or a surface comprises delivering chlorine dioxide as above and permitting the polymer to precipitate out of the mixture. Aqueous chlorine dioxide is then recovered and applied to the target.

摘要： Methods for treating sexual dysfunction are disclosed. The methods generally comprise the administration of an NO donor and an antioxidant; the active ingredients can be administered topically to the genitals of the patient. The methods allow for localized NO delivery through topical application of the present compounds, while minimizing, if not preventing, damage associated with peroxynitrite formation. Compositions comprising L-arginine, or a derivative thereof and an antioxidant in a pharmaceutical carrier suitable for application to the genitals is also disclosed.
