摘要： A dental imager includes an elongated handle with a rotatable head coupled to a distal end thereof and having a central platform with a plurality of arcuate scanning arms pivotally coupled thereto by a hinge. The arcuate scanning arms are of a shape and size for general deployment around a tooth and each include at least one scanner and a roller guide that comfortably rolls along the surface of the tooth or gums to bias the scanners a desired distance from the surface of the tooth, conducive for imaging thereof. In this respect, such a dental imager may be used in a process to scan and record the contours of an intraoral surface, the data of which may be used to create a digital three-dimensional surface impression printable by a 3D printer or the like.

摘要： Systems and methods are disclosed for treating teeth to correct for malocclusions. This may be accomplished by applying a series of labels to a digital dental model and applying a rolling ball process to identify tooth boundaries separating one tooth from a neighboring tooth and to also determine the crown/gum margin. The user may further assign regions to the dental model to indicate hard regions and soft regions. With the dental model labeled and defined, the user may then generate a treatment plan for moving the labeled and defined tooth or teeth relative to one another to correct for any malocclusions. Upon approval of the treatment plan, a series of 3D printed dental appliances or aligners to be worn in series by the patient may be fabricated to ultimately move the tooth or teeth to a desired position.

摘要： A technique to enable an existing monochrome camera in an intra-oral scanner to capture color images without making hardware changes to the camera. This operation is achieved by retrofitting a "tip" assembly of the scanner with red, green and blue light emitting diodes (LEDs), and then driving those diodes to illuminate the scene being captured by the scanner. Electronics in or associated with the scanner are operative to synchronize the LEDs to the frame capture of the monochrome camera in the device. A color image is created by combining the red-, green- and blue-illuminated images. Thus, color imagery is created from a monochrome camera and, in particular, by illuminating the screen with specific colors while the camera captures images. In this manner, single colored images are captured and combined into full color images. The system captures the color images with full resolution and sensitivity, thus producing higher quality full color images.

The apparatus includes a housing having mirrors positioned to receive an image from an object external to the housing and provide the image to an image sensor. The optical path between the object and the image sensor includes an aperture element having apertures for providing the image along multiple optical channels with a lens positioned within each of the optical channels. The apparatus also includes a transparent cover positioned within the optical path and having a plurality of fiducials. The depth of field of the apparatus includes the cover, allowing the fiducials to be used to calibrate the apparatus or verify and correct the existing calibration of it.
