    • A system and method facilitates the matching of service providers based on certain criteria such as, but not limited to, location of the provider in relation to a customer location, customer requests based on the location of the customer, the type of service requested and other possible attributes such as customer profile, customer past behavior and preferences and service price and quality. Service providers create real¬ time reverse auctions by using advanced data collection, filtering and disseminating algorithms. In addition, market-makers can provide value-added services, such as realtime traffic conditions and route planning, to their local affiliates. Such a scheme can allow market-makers to economically service customer requests by leveraging the real¬ time conditions and circumstances of their vast network of local service affiliates. Open competition will drive down prices for these services and increase revenues for the market-makers who will be able to service customer requests at the best prices available. This system will also benefit local service affiliates by notifying them and allowing them to compete for a broader number of service requests. A feedback mechanism will also encourage superior customer service since affiliates will want to ensure that they are considered for more jobs.

    • In the public WLAN systems, reliable user re-authentication for mobility support is an essential step. However, re-authentication during handoff procedures causes long handoff latency which deteriorates the quality of service specifically for real-time multimedia applications. One possible solution is to authenticate the Mobile Node (MN) in advance with all the neighboring Access Points (APs) and distribute the Session Keys to them. However, the key issue is how to optimally and efficiently select the neighboring APs. In the preferred embodiments, we propose a system that takes into account the user current "Geo-Location". "Mobility Pattern" and "Application Running on MN": estimates the "Expected Mobility Zone" (EMZ) and selects an appropriate set of candidate APs corresponding to the MN's geo-location. The EMZ may comprise of APs belonging to Intra-domain". "Inter-domain" or "Inter-technology Networks" (e.g., WLAN, WiMAX1 and Cellular etc). The system assumes that not only the Mobile Nodes but also the Fixed Nodes (APs or Base Stations) are capable of knowing their Geo- Location Coordinates X, Y, Z. This capability may come either by integrating GPS receiver or through any other alternate, state of the art or future positioning technologies in the APs.

    • This invention uses the ability to generate consumer relational marketing information from a database of transaction for digital content using a digital content mediator ("DCM") to track the distribution of digital content. By using information from the transaction log, which can be either generated directly by the DCM server (typically sent to the payment engine for billing purposes) or can be output by the payment engine and combining with information from the content description database, a customer-content history database is created. Data Mining techniques can then be used to dervie the desired consumer relational marketing information from the customer-content history database. However, it is also possible to use data mining techniques across the databases (transaction log, content description database, and (optionally) the customer/client info DB) to obtain the desired consumer relational marketing data without first combining information into the customer-content history database.
