    • In some implementations, a method in a user equipment (UE) for supporting time division duplex (TDD) and frequency division duplex (FDD) joint carrier aggregation (CA) includes receiving a Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) resource allocation from an evolved NodeB (eNB). The PUCCH resource allocation includes a first PUCCH configuration for a first subframe and a second PUCCH configuration for a second subframe, and the second PUCCH configuration is different than the first PUCCH configuration. The UE transmits a first group of Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) bits based on the first PUCCH configuration in the first subframe. The UE transmits a second group of HARQ bits based on the second PUCCH configuration in the second subframe.

The STA receives the request and transmits to the mobile device a response conveying information about the network capability of the access network. That response is received by the mobile station. The request and response may be Access Network Query Protocol 'ANQP' messages. A new ANQP element organizes information about multimedia capabilities of an access network (that is, how the access network is configured, if at all, to support multimedia). A new ANQP element organizes information about parental control and content filtering capabilities of an access network.

    • A station (114,116,404,800) makes a unidirectional announcement (that is, an indication, notification or advertisement) of types of services that are available to devices in or via a wireless network, for example, a wireless local area network 'WLAN' (104, 106). The announcement is receivable by mobile devices (102, 108,110,402,900) within radio communication range of the wireless network that are in the pre-associated state, because the announcement is conveyed using low-level layer 2 frames. A mobile device that receives such a layer 2 frame may determine the announced service type or types from the received layer 2 frame. The mobile device may determine whether it can make use of any of the announced service type or types. The mobile device may provide results of the determination to a network selection algorithm implemented at the mobile device.
