    • A seat belt retractor has a belt reel (2) that is mounted rotatably on a frame (1). A motive spring (3) biases the belt reel in a winding direction. An electrical driving device (4) adjusts the spring force of the motive spring. A clutch (5) located between the electrical driving device and the belt reel transmits torque produced by the electrical driving device to the belt reel. The clutch has a spring (6) that can be deformed by torque and, when deformed, brings the clutch into an engaged state. A damping device (29) is located between the belt reel (2) and the electrical driving device (4).

    • A retractor for the belt webbing of a safety belt system comprises a housing (10), a belt winding shaft (15) accommodated in the housing (10), and an electric motor (20) exhibiting a drive shaft (25) for driving the belt winding shaft (15). The electric motor (20) exhibits a first end (20a) through which the drive shaft (25) exits, and a second end (20b) lying opposite of the first end (20a). The first end (20a) is rigidly connected with the housing (10). In order to improve the retractor's lifetime, a retaining element (30) connected with the housing (10) is provided. This retaining element (30) connects the second end (20b) of the electric motor (20) with the housing (10), whereby the retaining element (30) exhibits at least one elastic element (elastic ring 32).
