    • A visual display screen apparatus including a support member and a visual display screen for collapsible displays such as flexible projection screen systems and light-emissive screens screen systems in combination with the elongated support member. The elongated support member includes or consists of a strip of material having an arcuate cross-sectional shape and exhibiting sufficient rigidity to act as a support for the visual display screen. Within a region of the strip of material where it transitions from having an arcuate cross-sectional shape to a flat cross-sectional shape, the strip of material exhibits a significant reduction in its rigidity and can be readily bent for enabling rolling and/or folding of the elongated support member for enabling the visual display screen to be rolled, folded and/or collapsed for storage and transport.

    • A self opening hinge comprises a tubular member with a set of circumferentially spaced blades (13, 14, 15) extending longitudinally between opposite end portions (11, 12). It can be folded by bending the blades to bring the end portions together and when released will naturally return to the straight condition under the spring action of the blades. The blade (13) which will be located on the inside of the fold when the member is in its folded condition is configured with a convex circumferential curvature as viewed from the axis of the member when in its unfolded condition, namely reversed in curvature as compared with the other blades (14, 15). In this way the stress on the inside blade when the member is folded is reduced as compared with a conventional hinge where all the blades follow a circular tube profile and are concave as viewed from the central axis.

    • The invention relates to a foldable board comprising at least two board elements (1, 2) that are hingedly interconnected along bordering joining edges (3, 4) having a rectangular profile by means of an adhesive layer (5) such that the board elements (1, 2) can be folded about an axis, the board elements (1, 2) lying flush on top of each other with the joining edges (3, 4) thereof in the folded state. The adhesive layer (5) is applied so as to at least partly stick to the joining edges (3, 4) of the respective board elements (1, 2) while the adhesive-coated joining edges (3, 4) abut each other at an obtuse angle in the unfolded state of the board elements (1, 2). The invention further relates to a method for producing such foldable boards, which comprises the following steps: a board is divided into at least two board elements; the board elements are placed on top of each other; the board elements are aligned so as to be flush with each other; an adhesive is applied to at least one portion of the joining edges; and the adhesive is hardened.

    • A hinge and support system for supporting cargo in a freight compartment is provided. The system includes a hinge member (55), associated with a deck panel (20, 21), which has at least one flexible projection (60). The hinge member mates with a support member (75) having a pocket (86) for which the hinge member’s flexible projections can be snapped into and retained within so as to allow pivotal movement of the hinge member with respect to the support member. The hinge member is also movably supported by the deck panel so that the hinge member can move relative to the deck panel when the deck panel is deployed. The support member includes one ledge (80) which engages the deck panel when deployed and a second ledge (82) which engages the panel when stowed upright so as to substantially isolate the hinge member from the weight of the deck panel and items placed on it. The hinge structure can be utilized in other contexts.
