The invention relates to a household appliance comprising a body (1) and a door (2) which is connected to the body (1) by means of a hinge and used to close the body (1). The door (2) is provided with a decorative plate (7) held at a gap from the door. A covering element (8) comprises a first limb (11) extending over a lateral wall of the body (1) and a second limb (10) engaging in the gap. At least one first mounting part (40) arranged on the decorative plate (7), in the gap, defines a recess (24) of at least one part (15) of the second limb (10). The first mounting part (40) comprises an abutment (25) which defines a maximum depth up to which the second limb (10) can be introduced into the recess. At least one spacer (50) can be fixed to the first mounting part (40) in order to enable the arrangement of the first mounting part (40) at a distance fixed by the spacer (50) from an edge of the decorative plate (7).
