    • The machine comprises a slide (1) provided with a reed knife (5) effecting a reciprocating motion perpendicularly to the path of the slide and which, after each step of the slide, is automatically introduced into a reed gap between two teeth of the comb (4) arranged in parallel to the path of the slide and which is removed after hooking the warp thread. The step length of the slide (1) is exactly equal to the corresponding reed division which is optically detected by means of a television camera (12) and which is measured, respectively calculated with an electronic unit (16, 17, 18, 19). This continuous and contact-less measurement of the reed separation enables a reeding of the threads without error also in thin reeds, avoiding the inconveniences of a mechanical detection in the weaving comb.
