摘要： An air purification system for removing chemical contaminants from an air stream. The air purification system includes an adsorbent filtration material that is regenerable by the application of increased temperature air. In one embodiment, the adsorbent filter is a packed bed that is regenerated by the use of a heater. In another embodiment, the adsorbent filter is a rotating wheel having an adsorption segment where contaminants are removed from an air stream. The wheel also includes a cooling segment and a regeneration segment. Air is passed over the cooling segment to preheat regeneration air and to reduce the temperature of the filter wheel. Regeneration air is further heated by a heater and then passed through the regeneration segment to regenerate the filter.

摘要： An apparatus and method for producing hydrogen. The apparatus includes a fuel processor, a purification unit and a system controller. The controller determines a calculated flow of reformate from the fuel processor and operates the purification unit based on the calculated flow. The calculated flow is derived from a process model of the fuel processor and known feed(s) to the fuel processor. The calculated flow of reformate is used to control the flow of reformate to adsorbent beds within the purification unit and can be used to control other materials flows within the apparatus. Means for reducing fluctuations in the pressure and/or flow rate of reformate flowing from the fuel processor to the purification unit are also disclosed. The purity of the hydrogen produced can be maintained by adjusting the operation of the purification unit in response to changes in reformate composition, pressure and/or flow rate.

摘要： High temperature fuel cell electrical generation systems are provided that are adapted to enable selective generation of electrical power, and/or hydrogen fuel, and/or useable heat, allowing flexible operation of the generation system. In such embodiments, the high temperature fuel cell may be either a MCFC or a SOFC. The disclosed systems relate to high temperature fuel cells exploiting gas separation devices in which a first gas mixture is to be separated so that a first product of the separation is enriched in a first component, while a second component is mixed with a displacement purge stream to form a second gas mixture, with provision to prevent cross contamination of purge gas components into the first product stream. The invention may be applied to hydrogen (component A) enrichment from syngas mixtures such as fuel cell anode exhaust, where dilute carbon dioxide (component B) is to be rejected such as to the atmosphere or for recycle to the fuel cell cathode in the case of molten carbonate fuel cells, by purging with cathode exhaust oxygen-depleted air (as component C).

摘要： Systems and process for wet and combinations of wet and dry removal of targeted pollutants, such as oxides of sulfur, oxides of nitrogen, and oxides of carbon from combustion and other industrial process gases and processes utilizing the system. Oxides of manganese are utilized as the primary sorbent in the system for removal or capture of pollutants. In wet removal, oxides of manganese are mixed in a slurry which is introduced into reaction zones of the system. In dry removal, the oxides of manganese are introduced from feeders into reaction zones of the system where they are contacted with a gas from which pollutants are to be removed. Removal may occur in single-stage, dual-stage, or multi-stage systems with at least one of the reaction zones being a wet scrubber. A variety dry scrubber may be utilized in combination wet and dry removal systems. Process parameters, particularly system differential pressure, are controlled by electronic controls to maintain minimal system differential pressure, and to monitor and adjust pollutant removal efficiencies. Reacted sorbent may be removed from the reaction action zones for recycling or recycled or regenerated with useful and marketable by-products beins recovered during regeneration.

摘要： A regenerative type carbon dioxide separator and a carbon dioxide separating system, capable of reliably effecting carbon dioxide separation with extremely high efficiency by a much simpler arrangement than in the prior art. Carbon dioxide in exhaust gases can be absorbed and separated by defining a high temperature region and a low temperature region around a rotor and simply rotating the rotor. Therefore, it is possible to realize a maintenance-easy, highly reliable absorption separation system which can be extremely simplified, greatly reducing regeneration costs. The same effect can also be attained by a stationary arrangement. Further, the use of lithium zirconate, alkali metal oxides and/or oxides of alkaline earth metals as an absorption-separation agent provides chemical and mechanical stability and enables reversible stabilized absorption and release of carbon dioxide.

摘要： Gas separation by pressure swing adsorption (PSA) is performed within an apparatus having a plurality of adsorbers cooperating with first and second valve means in a rotary PSA module, with the PSA cycle characterized by multiple intermediate pressure levels between the higher and lower pressures of the PSA cycle. Gas flows enter or exit the PSA module at the intermediate pressure levels as well as the higher and lower pressure levels, under substantially steady conditions of flow and pressure. The PSA module comprises a rotor containing laminated sheet adsorbers and rotating within a stator, with ported valve faces between the rotor and stator to control the timing of the flows entering or exiting the adsorbers in the rotor.
