摘要： Delivery of metallic combustion catalysts to internal combustion engines and other combustion devices is improved by dosing units that have the ability to effect the slow and positive supply of metallic additives, including platinum and/or cerium containing catalyst compositions, to fuel. The invention provides additive dosing materials and methods for simply and effectively supplying catalytic metal fuel additives to fuel in suitable low concentrations as are effective. The dosing units can be used with devices made to contact diesel fuel. In one approach, a catalytic metal additive concentrate (CMAC) is prepared in normally solid, semisolid or viscous form. The CMAC will preferably be encapsulated with a solid polymer. The encapsulation can be accomplished by embedding or dispersing the CMAC in a suitable polymer. If desired, the CMAC can be dispersed in one polymer and then the resulting composite can be embedded in the same or a different polymer. In an alternative form, a dosing unit can comprise a semisolid CMAC, which could be similarly held in contact with flowing fuel.

摘要： Residual fuels, as well as lighter distillate fuels, are combusted with greater efficiency by utilizing low concentrations of specific bimetallic or trimetallic fuel-borne catalysts. The catalysts reduce fouling of heat transfer surfaces by unburned carbon while limiting the amount of secondary additive ash which may itself cause overloading of particulate collector devices or emissions of toxic ultra fine particles when used in forms and quantities typically employed. By utilizing a fuel containing a fuel-soluble catalyst comprised of platinum and at least one additional metal comprising cerium and/or iron, production of pollutants of the type generated by incomplete combustion is reduced. Ultra low levels of nontoxic metal combustion catalysts are able to be employed for improved heat recovery and lower emissions of regulated pollutants.

摘要： The additive described consists essentially of a selected oxalkylated fatty amine or fatty amine derivative and a special mineral salt compound, preferably a metal soap. Said additive for heavy oils produces good emulsification and dispersion of asphaltenes and other high molecular compounds thereby resulting inter alia in increased storage stability, improved pumpability due to reduced viscosity of the oil and longer operational life of the filter systems. Further, said additive produces better combustion of heavy oils. The effective additive quantity for said oils amounts to 2 to 2,000 ppm. The oils described are specially adequate to be used as fuel for industrial installations and power stations and as fuel for boat motors.

摘要： Emissions of pollutants from diesel engines (10) are reduced by a regimen for catalytically treating engine exhaust and, preferably, also the combustion of the fuel. The balance point of a diesel trap (30) is reduced to permit more efficient regeneration, preferably self-regeneration, while also reducing emissions of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons by a combination of mechanical devices and fuel additives. The regimen requires the introduction of from 0.05 to 1 ppm of a platinum group metal catalyst (based on the volume of fuel combusted) into the particulates, by introducing at least half of the platinum group metal catalyst (50) directly into the hot exhaust gases (52, 20). Preferably, the platinum group metal catalyst is employed with a combustible organic liquid to aid in either progressively loading the trap (30) with the combustible organics or to combust in the hot combustion gases to facilitate burning of the particulates on the trap (30) for more effective regeneration. The judicious selection and use of an auxiliary catalyst metal (e.g., copper), preferably adding at least half of its total to the fuel as a fuel additive, is a preferred part of the regimen to achieve the lowest trap balance point.

摘要： A method to improve the operation of a diesel trap through the use of a fuel additive comprising fuel-soluble compositions of platinum group metal in effective amounts to lower the emissions of unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide from the trap. The catalyst is selective and reduces the oxidation of SO2 to SO3. The platinum group metal compositions are preferably added in amounts effective to provide concentrations of the metal in the fuel of less than 1 part per million (ppm). Lithium and/or sodium compositions can be used in amounts effective to reduce the trap regeneration temperature, e.g. concentrations to provide about 1 to 100 ppm lithium metal, and/or 1 to 30 ppm sodium metal.

The process comprises fractionation under vacuum of a refined CTO into at least one stream of refined tall diesel (RTD) or tall oil fatty acids (TOFA), the RTD or TOFA comprises from 2 - 30 % by volume of resin acids and from 20 - 90 % by volume of fatty acids, and at least one stream of resin acid(s) (RA) comprising less than 5 % by volume of fatty acids. The stream of RTD or TOFA is deoxygenated forming hydrocarbon compounds in a subsequent step. This invention also relates to a refined tall diesel. Furthermore, a process for the production of a refined tall diesel (RTD) composition, wherein crude sulphate turpentine(s) (CST) is added to the refined tall diesel (RTD) composition, is described.
