    • The invention relates to polymeric cobalt bearing compounds, in particular for use as metal-rubber adhesion promoters (RAPs) in tires, belts and hoses. Known active substances are a.o. cobalt stearates, naphthenates, resinates, decanoates, boro-decanoates and many other forms of acylates. While these substances appear to enhance the metal-rubber adhesion, all of them also come with significant drawbacks, a.o. linked to the relatively high bioavailability of cobalt in these substances. The invention concerns more particularly a polymer comprising Co-carboxylate sequences, with a Co content of at least 3% by weight, and with a mean molecular weight of more than 2000. Several synthesis methods, allowing to reach relatively high Co concentrations in the polymer, illustrate the invention. The invented polymers show a strongly reduced bioavailability of Co compared to currently available products, as demonstrated by aqueous leaching tests. As RAPs, they perform similarly to commercial products, as shown by pullout tests.

    • The invention relates to a rubber composition comprising fatty acid modified amines as well as to a method for the treatment of rubbers with fatty acid modified amines. As fatty acid modified amine an amine is chosen that mainly contains primary and tertiary amino groups, with at least one tertiary amino group being present and the fatty acid modification being present on at least one primary amino group. Preferably, as amine a dendritically branched polyalkylene imine is chosen from the group consisting of: 4-cascade:1,4-diaminobutane[4]:propylamine and 8-cascade:1,4-diaminobutane[4]:(1-azabutyliedene) :propylamine. The rubber composition according to the invention has an excellent curing behavior and shows an excellent dispersion of silica-based mineral fillers. The rubber composition according to the invention also has an excellent hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, tear resistance strength and compressibility.

    • Heat-resistant molding resin composition composed of 60-99.9 weight% of an aromatic polyamide resin and 40-0.1 weight% of at least one thermoplastic resin having a melt viscosity of not more than 1 x 105 poises and a decomposition point not lower than 350`C and being selected from the group consisting of polyphenylenesulfide resin, polyamide resin, polysulfone resin, aromatic polyester resin, polyphenylene ether resin, and phenoxy resin. The addition of the thermoplastic resin serves to improve melt fluidity of aromatic polyamidoimide resin and permits a resin composition having good molding properties to be obtained. This composition can contain various fillers. Moldings obtained by melt-molding this composition are excellent in heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, electric characteristics, sliding characteristics, solvent resistance, etc., and have a wide range of applications.
