摘要： A therapeutic device for providing cold or heat therapy is provided. The device includes solid spherical materials and a medium that may include an alcohol mixture. An impermeable enclosure contains the spherical materials and the medium to form the therapeutic device. The therapeutic device applies cold or heat therapy and is pliable to conform to curved contours of the body. The therapeutic device also has a weight which provides pressure to, and desired contact with, the injured area. Certain embodiments further include an accessory for holding the device in contact or otherwise close proximity to a body region being treated.

摘要： A method, apparatus and a system for thermally-assisted pulsed electromagnetic field stimulation for treatment of osteoarthritis are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system comprises a multi-coil applicator adapted for positioning near or around of the treated joint, a pulse generator functionally coupled to the applicator, a power supply, and a feedback loop for stabilizing the temperature of the joint. The feedback loop includes a heating element, a temperature sensor and an electronic controller for maintaining the temperature of the joint in the range of 38 to 42 degree C. At elevated temperatures the healing effect of PEMF stimulation on the cartilage is maximized and overall efficiency of the treatment is improved. To produce a high electric field, the coils of the applicator are made with a low number of turns, for example less than 5 turns, and are spatially arranged to cover the whole joint without "dead" zones.

摘要： A flexible joint wrap includes a heat exchange bladder, which provides fluid circulation and compression to a joint. The joint wrap includes upper and lower sections for attachment above and below a joint The bladder has an opening at a center section which provides flexibility of the bladder. The heat exchange bladder may be enclosed in a removable cover designed to conform to the shape of the bladder. The cover and bladder are formed with an opening in alignment with the joint to provide flexibility to the wrap. The cover may be formed of a fluid repellant inner lining to prevent fluid from the joint from soiling the bladder. The cover may further comprise a nylon loop outer surface to allow the upper and lower sections to be easily attached and adjusted.

The heating device is user programmable or pre-programmed to deliver according to a variety of cycles, patterns and algorithms. The cycles, patterns, and algorithms of the heat are programmable parameters, are under the user's control, and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the device. The heating algorithms are designed to interact with an individual user's thermal nerve receptors and other tissue characteristics and to reduce the tendency of the receptors to accommodate to the external stimuli with back pain, muscular pain, dysmenorrhea, headaches, fibromyalgia, post-herpetic neuralgia, nerve injuries and neuropathies, and sprains and strain. The device can also be used in conjunction with existing medical devices such as Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulators (TENS) to increase the effectiveness of TENS devices.

摘要： A self-contained heating and cooling orthopaedic brace is described. The brace generally includes a main body having straps to support the brace on the desired area of the body. These areas can include the back, knee, elbow and shoulder. The brace further includes inner pockets having heating and cooling pads connected to a temperature controller that allows manual adjustment of the desired temperature. The heating and cooling elements in the pad typically utilize the Peltier Effect. The temperature controller can include a rechargeable battery for prolonged use. In addition, the brace is a material that allows temperature retention for further prolonged use. The user's own body moisture is also retained for moist heat applications.

A hand-held pump (58) is provided for pressurizing an outer compartment to force an inner compartment with the thermal fluid against the areas of the limb being treated. An elastic strap (22) connects the arms (13, 14) around the limb below the knee to minimize venous constriction.

摘要： The present invention is a smart orthosis with the electrotherapy, thermotherapy and vibration capabilities to perform in-home physiotherapy, which is related to the area of human needs in health sections. Physiotherapy, which is prescribed for many musculoskeletal, as well as brain and nerve diseases, is mainly performed in clinics through multiple sessions, requiring a lot of time and money. Therefore, we aimed to produce this device, which is mainly established to complete physiotherapy programs outside clinics and without the need for multiple referrals of patients to receive rehabilitation services. Application of this device not only reduces healthcare costs of patients, but it also significantly promotes their health status. Another important application of this device is dermal absorption of topical drugs. On the first referral, vibrator, as well as heat and electricity systems of the device are adjusted by the therapist, so that the patient is able to use the device at home. In addition, the therapist can monitor the treatment process of patients through related website and software.
