摘要： Methods of forming support layers for use in catheters using having a support layer included, and stents incorporating coatings of photosensitive polymerizable resins and stents including fibers coated with photosensitive polymerizable resins. A fiber is coated with a PPC resin and incorporated into a support structure for a catheter. Portions of the PPC are polymerized by exposure to light of a desired wavelength, causing increased rigidity and strength to the polymerized portions. As the PPC is polymerized, the fibers coated by the PPC resins become stronger and change the flexibility of devices incorporating such fibers. Additional embodiments include stents incorporating PPC coatings and methods of using such stents, including polymerizing a PPC coating after inserting a self-expanding or balloon-expandable stent.

This medical device, such as an in-dwelling catheter, has a portion that is insertable into the body of a patient and accessible from outside the body once the portion is inserted. The portion has an outer wall, a first active lumen within the outer wall, and a false lumen within the outer wall in which the false lumen has a distal portion and a proximal portion. The false lumen contains an anti-microbial agent that provides the outer wall with anti-microbial properties. The distal portion of the false lumen is sealed. The false lumen may be adjacent to the first active lumen. The medical device may also contain a second active lumen, wherein the first active lumen is an inlet lumen and the second active lumen is an outlet lumen. 摘要： A medical probe assembly includes an elongated shaft and an electrode array mechanically coupled to the distal end of the shaft. The electrode array is configured to assume an outwardly curved shape, when exposed to a first temperature, and assume a pointed tip when exposed to a second temperature less than the first temperature. The first temperature is preferably greater than body temperature, e.g., equal to the tissue ablation temperature, and the second temperature is preferably less than a tissue ablation temperature, e.g., body temperature. In this manner, the pointed tip assumed by the electrode array facilitates introduction of the probe assembly through the tissue prior to the ablation process, while the outwardly curved shape assumed by the electrode array facilitates deployment of the electrode array within the tissue during the ablation process. The electrodes can be composed of a temprature sensitive material, such as Nitinol or a bimetallic metal.
