    • An improved coupling system for joining two items together, typically in the form of copper pipes, to other copper pipes, or in the form of other fittings, includes a pair of flange couplings, each of which is independently secured to one of the items to be joined together so that when the two flange couplings are securely joined to each other by suitable fasteners received through fastening apertures in the two flange couplings, the two items are sealingly joined to one another to form a substantially water tight junction. The improvement being that the bare metal parts of the ferrous components of the coupling are coated with a protective coating, such as a copper coating, so that there is no direct contact between two dissimilar metals thereby inhibiting or preventing corrosion of the metal components of the coupling due to electrolytic or galvanic action arising from direct contact between the two dissimilar metals.

    • The invention relates to a method for assembling a connection of at least one tube segment to a substantially flat element, such as an additional tube segment with a cold connection thereon, which comprises: a radially protruding flange on the tube segment at or close to the end of the tube segment to be connected; a gasket for clamping against the flange; and a number of couplings distributed round the periphery of the flange for clamping the gasket with force between the flange and the element, wherein the method comprises the steps of: adjusting the flange in deforming manner relative to the element and/or the associated tube segment at least almost without pressure on the gasket, and subsequently tightening the couplings while freely clamping the gasket in order to mutually connect the flange and the element with the gasket therebetween under pressure which is distributed radially in uniform manner.

    • A pipe assembly may have one or more pipe segments that are coupled together or coupled to a drive socket by a coupler. The coupler may have a body with a generally tubular shape with an interior surface and an exterior surface. First and second flanges may extend outward from the exterior surface to engage the drive socket, thereby providing enhanced stability and coaxiality. The interior surface may have an upper receiving feature that can receive the bottom end of an overhead pipe segment, and a lower receiving feature that can receive the top end of a subtending pipe segment. The upper receiving feature may have an upper threaded bore with a lead-in portion that facilitates alignment of the overhead pipe segment with the upper threaded bore. The interior surface may also have a stop feature that prevents over-insertion of the top end and/or the bottom end into the coupler.
