A traction drive fluid is provided which has a flash point of 150°C or higher, a high coefficient of traction at high temperatures, and excellent flow properties at low temperatures.

摘要： A magnetic recording medium having the outermost layer holding liquid crystal molecules of specified monocyclic, dicyclic and tricyclic structures as a lubricant; and a magnetic recorder/reproducer having a magnetic recording medium for recording information and a magnetic head for recording/reproducing information on/from the magnetic recording medium, wherein the minimum interval between the geometrical average planes of the magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head is 50 nm or less and liquid crystal molecules of specified structure are held as a lubricant in the outermost layer of the magnetic recording medium. The lubricant contains liquid crystal molecules having phase transition from the solid phase to the liquid phase and intermediate properties between liquid and solid. The lubricant can release the kinetic energy produced by sliding through phase transition. The magnetic recording medium and the magnetic recorder/reproducer can satisfy all the characteristics of durability against continuous sliding, low adhesiveness and high meniscoid force.

摘要： The present disclosure provides processes and apparatus for producing poly alpha olefins. In at least one embodiment, a process to produce a poly alpha olefin includes introducing a first olefin monomer to a first catalyst and an activator in a first reactor to form a first reactor effluent comprising an olefin dimer and an olefin trimer. The process includes introducing the first reactor effluent to a filtration unit to form a filtration effluent, and introducing the filtration effluent to a first distillation unit to form a first distillation effluent. The process includes introducing the first distillation effluent (or a second distillation effluent) to a second catalyst in a second reactor to form a second reactor effluent comprising the olefin trimer. The process includes removing a sample at any stage of the process and introducing the sample to a gas chromatograph.

摘要： A low transition temperature mixture (LTTM) or deep eutectic solvent (DES) useful as a lubricating oil base stock and lubricating oil including a eutectic mixture of at least a first component and at least a second component. The at least first component comprises a hydrogen bond acceptor and the at least second component comprises a hydrogen bond donor. The eutectic mixture includes an equilibrium phase between the at least first component and the at least second component. The equilibrium phase does not exhibit physical characteristics of the at least first component in an unmixed state and the at least second component in an unmixed state. The at least first component and the at least second component form an intermolecular interaction between each other sufficient to prevent crystallization of the at least first component and the at least second component in the eutectic mixture. The eutectic mixture is a liquid at 20°C.

摘要： A magnetic recording medium and method for forming the magnetic recording medium are described. The magnetic recording medium includes a magnetic layer formed on a non-magnetic support, and a lubricant layer over the magnetic layer. The lubricant layer includes a compound selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentanes, hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentenes, hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentadienes, and mixtures or derivatives thereof. The lubricant layer also may be used on a magnetic head for reading and writing information on a magnetic recording medium. The magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head may be used to manufacture computer disk drives, compact disk drives, audio equipment, and video equipment.
