    • Aspects described herein relate to a network for providing air-to-ground wireless communication in various cells. The network includes a first base station array, each base station of which includes a respective first antenna array defining a directional radiation pattern that is oriented in a first direction, wherein each base station of the first base station array is disposed spaced apart from another base station of the first base station array along the first direction by a first distance. The network also includes a similar second base station array where the second base station array extends substantially parallel to the first base station array and is spaced apart from the first base station array by a second distance to form continuous and at least partially overlapping cell coverage areas between respective base stations of the first and second base station arrays.

    • A method and an apparatus for processing network configuration, and a Radio Network Controller (RNC) are provided. The method includes: a neighbor relationship between a macro cell and a Generic Access Network (GAN) cell is established, which is a neighbor correspondence relationship between the RNC of the macro cell and the Generic Access Network Controller (GANC) of the GAN cell, wherein more than two GAN cells share one GANC (101); when a user equipment handovers from the macro cell to the GAN cell, a measurement control message is sent to the user equipment according to the neighbor relationship between the macro cell and the GAN cell (102). A corresponding apparatus and RNC are also provided. The present invention makes it possible to effectively reduce the complexity of neighbor network configuration between the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, etc. and GAN, and reduce the workload of network management and configuration.

    • A broadband wireless mobile communication system for high a speed mobile transportation corridor comprises a base stations utilizing two or more sectors, a distributed antenna system connected to the base station and including remote antenna units distributed along the corridor and sectors of the respective base station, with sectors of the base station interleaved among the remote antenna units such that no two adjacent antennas use signals from the same sector. The system desirably employs a radio over fiber distributed antenna system which desirably includes an autonomous sensing remote antenna unit structured so as toggle between standby and active modes in response to locally sensed presence of a mobile transceiver along the corridor. A method of operating broadband wireless mobile communication system for high a speed mobile transportation corridor is also disclosed.
