摘要： A tag (30) for electronic article identification has at least two magnetic elements (31-36), which represent an identify of the tag, or of an article to which the tag is attached. The magnetic elements may be electromagnetically detected and are formed as wires made from an amorphous or nano-crystalline metal alloy. The magnetic elements (31-36) are arranged at predetermined angles ( alpha 1- alpha 6) to each other. At least one of the magnetic elements (31-36) has a length (L1-L6), which is different from the length of at least one other magnetic elements (31-36) of the tag. Furthermore, at least one of the magnetic elements has a diameter ( phi 1- phi 6), which is different from the diameter of at least one other magnetic element of the tag. The lengths and diameters of the magnetic elements, and the angles between them, jointly form the identity of the tag.

摘要： An embeddable, non-invasively and non-destructivelly measurable identification marker (10) is described which can be read out despite a cover layer (2) which substantially reduces radio frequency and mechanical access. The marker (10) can store data in excess of 16 bit. The marker (10) is preferably remotely readable, is not erasable by electromagnetic radiation, is visually camouflageable and its stored information survives exposure to high temperatures which makes it suitable for use in safety critical applications. 摘要： A system for fluorescence activated cell sorting includes at least two excitation lasers and an objective that directs light from the at least two excitation lasers to a common point in an interrogation region of a fluidic channel. The fluidic channel directs a flow of a plurality of fluorescently labeled particles through the interrogation region. At least one modulator temporally multiplexes light from the at least two excitation lasers such that pulses of light from different lasers intersect the common point at different times. The system further includes at least one detector and at least one optical element that directs light emitted from the particles and transmitted through the objective to the at least one detector. The system may further include optics for generating and detecting side and forward scattered light. Methods for operating example systems to collect fluorescent, side scattered and forward scattered light are also described herein.

The printer receives data representing an E13B character, and prints the E13B character onto a substrate according to a modified E13B character pattern. The modified E13B pattern provides for an interior of the E13B character to be substantially completely filled, and includes one or more void arrangements arranged and positioned relative to a corresponding internal detection edge, and sized and shaped, to amplify the difference between the upstream magnetic signal detected on the upstream side of the internal detection edge and the downstream magnetic signal detected on the downstream side of the internal detection edge when an electromagnetic read head reads the resulting printed E13B character.
